Problem DataBinding checkBox in a DataGrid

I have a DataGrid with a checkbox as ItemTemplate... .

<asp:DataGrid id="Datagrid3" runat="server" AutoGenerateCol umns="False" >
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateCo lumn>
<ItemTemplate >
<asp:CheckBox id="Chk" Text="<%# Container.DataI tem %>"
runat="server">
</asp:CheckBox>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateCol umn>
</Columns>
</asp:DataGrid>

in my codebehind file I have a query
Select productname form product, the results of which are held in a DataReader
and the DataReader is the source of Data for Datagrid3.

Query exectues fine but on the page I get the following instead of the
actual data.
System.Data.Com mon.DbDataRecor d.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanx in advance.

I am trying display the contents of a table in a web page, select certain rows from that table and then display the fields that I have selected (now table columns) as text in a Label object. Amazingly I have managed to display the table - no problem, I can select rows - no problem, BUT I can't work out how to display more than one of the fields (now columns in the table in the web page). I can display one field OK, but not more than one...

Hi, There is a component that is binding the results of a search to a DataList. By clicking on an image in the datalist, the user can download that particular item. We are using the DataKeys property to retrieve the ID (as stored in the database), to then locate the item, and do some other stuff and push the file out to the user. The first time the search is performed, the user can download the file, and the correct file gets...

I have an ASP .net web application installed in a Windows 2003 server. This web application has a webform that has a Datagrid. This Datagrid is filled with the data of a SQL table. I have a button that inserts a new row in the SQL table and then refresh the datagrid.

Hi there: I've read an excellent "how to"-article by Microsoft (no. 306227) - partly cited cited at the end of this email). I have implemented the code related to the part "How to Add a CheckBox Programmatically" in my code. I have changed it to use a OLDDB.DBReader to populate the datagrid and for the databinding. It works perfectly - also when using the edit-mode in the datagrid.

I created a user control that, had a datalist with checkboxes inside of the item template. These checkboxes would not retain state. For instance, if I set them to checked inside of the load event of the UserControl, they would appear false(the default value) when inside the top level datagrid. Here's the walkthrough (tried to make it as quick as possible): Start a new ASP.NET Web Application project. 1. Create a usercontrol....

Hi there, I am databinding a datagrid on the onload with the usual !IsPostBack condition. I have to create some dynamic checkboxes, because i dont know how many i will need until the dataset comes back. take it as red that writing them into the aspx is not an option. Hello and apologies in advance for the amount of code in this post. I've also sent this message to the Sharepoint group, but thought that ASP.NET developers may also be able to help, even though it's a Sharepoint WebPart. I'm trying to do something fairly simple, create a datagrid that displays where and when a person works and allows them to change some of the information via DropDownLists. When the user clicks to edit a row, three of...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
