New characters added when toggling Between Design & HTML Mode in Web Form Editor

Presently, when I add a new webform to asp.net project and begin
filling out the content of the form, I am getting additional characters
added to the HTML which appears in the HTML editor of the .NET IDE.

The characters (such as ? or the strange windows box) appear throughout
the document. If I remove the character, it disappears but then
re-appears next time I switch between "Design" and "HTML".

I am guessing it has something to do with a character set someplace, I
just don't where.

Also, for some reason, when I create a new webform, the following tag
is added to the <head> section:

<META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
charset=windows-1252">

I would appreciate any help people can give me on this topic, or if you
need more information, please let me know.

Thanks -

Tim

Since I am Swedish, I write website content mostly in Swedish language and using charset iso-8859-1. I have (just for testing) tried to use utf-8 on a test page ( http://w1.978.telia.com/~u97802964/test.html ) but the special Swedish characters don't come out right if I dont use entities for them. The Swedish characters in question is: Latin letter a with ring above = &aring; (å) Latin letter a with diaeresis = &auml; (ä) Latin letter...

Hi there. I've written a simple program that makes a simple GET form with a text input box and displays $_GET when submitted. Using Windows Character Map, I pasted in the Cyrillic capital "Ya" (the backward R) and it came out as "Я". So far so good. Then I sent in " Я" (The is the Cyrillic character again.) That came out as "Я Я". How can I please tell the difference between the Cyrillic and the character sequence '&', '#',

Hello, I was wondering if there are a few good pages and/or examples on how to process form data correctly for putting it in a MySQL DB. Since I'm not used to using PHP a lot, I already found out that addslashes() can be used escape some characters, but I'm having some more problems with for instance ä, å and µ (since the text is scientifical) Now some people also throw in htmlspecialchars() to convert those to HTML entities, but some...

I am trying to set the "backcolor" property in fields in a form. It sets okay using a macro (setvalue). But when I close the form, the property settings revert back to what they were before I closed the form. So when I reopen the form, the settings are not changed. If I manually change the settings while not in Design mode (using the "fill with" icon), the settings hold. If I change the settings while in Design mode, the settings do not...

Once upon a time, there were no garbage characters on this page: http://www.teamlalala.com/blog/category/css/ Now there are. For instance: The 2nd paragraph from page 114 of “The Zen Of CSS Design†For me, there are garbage characters before "The" and after "Design".

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
