ASP .NET 2.0 special folders explanation request

Hello All,

I noticed in the ASP.NET beta 2 that we have more special folders. Can
I get some clarification regarding these folders? I am just making sure
of the intent.

Thanks in advance,

Bob Hanson

/bin for dependant assemblies
/app_code for .cs/.vb files you'd like ASP.NET to compile for you
/app_globalresou rces for shared .resx files and other localizable resources
/app_localresour ces for page, master and sitemap specific localizable resources
/app_webreferenc es for WSDL files to be compiled into proxies
/app_data for arbitrary data files that won't be served up directly to a
HTTP client
/app_browsers for .browser files to declare what features a browser supports
based upon user agent header (this replaces <browserCaps> in machine.config
/app_themes for CSS and .skin files for use when Theming a page

Hi, I finally figured out the best way to synch local and remote script folders, containing many php script files. What I used to do before was try to ftp all the changed files, etc. which was tedious and often broke. It was also very slow. What I do now is to pkzip the folder up, ftp the pkzip’ed data to remote, and then unzip it there, which recreates the directories and files.

I'm just starting out writing Python scripts (in PSP), and need to find the location of Windows special folders such as 'My Documents' and 'Desktop' so that I can save files in the right place. Is there any method I can use in Python to get these? If I were doing this in VBScript it'd be: Dim WSHShell Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") msgbox WSHShell.SpecialFolders("Desktop")

Hello all. On a file or folder object in Windows 2000/2003, it is possible to edit the standard Change, RW etc permissions and give "special" permissions. These special permissions do things like allow/deny "Create Folders/Append Data" and such. What I am looking to do is use a script that I have that walks a directory to set permissions on a specific subfolder that is found 4-6 levels deep (depending on where it is located) for one...

Hi everybody! I wonder if this is possible? I need to determine if a client is using "windows classic folders" or anything else. If I instantiate a Shell ActiveX object is there a way of obtaining this information from javascript? (I know that the user will get prompted about allowing such an operation, but I am willing to live with this). Because of the way one of my pages work, I need to know this information in order to "cover up"...

I'm researching ways to locate so-called special folders such as "My Documents", "<username>\Application Data", etc. I've found references to Application.CommonAppDataPath(), etc, but those are too limiting. I'm really looking for managed-code equivalents of SHGetFolderPath(). Is there such a beast? Or will I need to do a DLLImport to get the flexibility I need? Cheers, Jon

Does anyone know of a simple way to retrieve WITH CODE the path to special folders such as the 'My Documents' or 'Application Data' folders. I can do it with api calls using sffolder, etc but I would like to avoid those in the future and thought that would be possible in vb.net 2003. I can use the Folder Browser dialog tool in Vb.net 2003 but then it seems that it must be displayed to the User!. I want to retrieve and use the special...

Hi All, I am using an API function, which takes file path as an input. When file path contains special characters (@,#,$,%,&,^, etc), API function gives an error as "Unable to open input file". Same file path containing special characters works fine in one machine, but doesn't work in other. I am using following API function to get short file path. Declare Auto Function GetShortPathName Lib "kernel32" (ByVal lpszLongPath As

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
