Shared Assembly versions...

I have written an assemly (MyLib.dll) and this is stong named and installed
in GAC. My web application (MyWeb.dll) is refrencing MyLib.dll and it is
using it. Whenever I modify (without changing any funcation signature or
removing functions) and build myLib.dll its revision number is changing (as
expected like 1.0.0.100 to 1.0.0.101 etc.. ). And I uninstall the old
assembly that is there in GAC and install the new on in GAC. But when I try
to access the web application (MyWeb) I always get an error

System.IO.FileL oadException: The located assembly's manifest definition with
name 'MyLib' does not match the assembly reference.

This error goes away if I just simply recompile the web applicaiton. SO how
to make my web application to use the latest version of assembly (MyLib.dll)

Please help.
Thanks

I created a shared assemble and dropped it into Windows\assembly. Browsing this directory shows that it is in there and the properties looks as expected. However, when I attempt to add this as a reference in the IDE, the name is not showing. Am I missing something?

Here's a scenario I'd like to discuss in order to setup my VS.NET IDE properly and be able to prepare a distribution: a) I have a windows forms C# app using 3 shared assemblies I developed to include various functions. The 3 shared assemblies are strongly named, and some of them are also used by others of them. Let's call them A, B, and C: now, B references A, while C references A and B. b) there is a distinct solution for each of the...

Hi, We developed some assemblies which use EnterpriseServices queued components. In order to use EnterpriseServices, these assemblies need to be installed into GAC. I used the pre-build and post-build events to automate GAC installation processes and the asp.net application has "copy to local" set to false for the references of these shared assemblies. However, every time we made the changes to the shared assemblies, we had to restart...

Good Morning All, What the best way to use references? Reference a project in another project or reference a DLL. We are developing C# Sharp Web Apps in VS 2003. We are getting warnings like the following. Warning: The dependency 'TTT.Library, Version=1.0.0.1, Culture=neutral' in project 'Dmt' cannot be copied to the run directory because it would overwrite the reference 'TTT.Library, Version=1.0.0.3, Culture=neutral'. When I search for...

In VS.2005 using VB.NET There are two versions on every project, The Assembly Version and the File Version. Why are there two different versions? As far as I can tell, there is not need for two versions. The assembly is the file, isn't it?

Hi, We have added a shared assembly in GAC so that our multiple solutions can use use it. We use the publisher policy to controls the different versions of the assembly. This shared assembly also has dependencies (some are .NET assembly with strong name and some non .NET without strong name). How we will manage the dependent assemblies? Does the dependent assemblies will need to be added to the GAC?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
