Hi and welcome to TSDN.
Hope you have a great time here.
Your question looks interesting but I'm not sure I understand it though.

In order to delete a share assembly from the GAC, use gacutil \u
In order to move to a different version, use publisher policy file.

I created a shared assemble and dropped it into Windows\assembly. Browsing this directory shows that it is in there and the properties looks as expected. However, when I attempt to add this as a reference in the IDE, the name is not showing. Am I missing something?

Here's a scenario I'd like to discuss in order to setup my VS.NET IDE properly and be able to prepare a distribution: a) I have a windows forms C# app using 3 shared assemblies I developed to include various functions. The 3 shared assemblies are strongly named, and some of them are also used by others of them. Let's call them A, B, and C: now, B references A, while C references A and B. b) there is a distinct solution for each of the...

I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003 under Windows XP Pro. I had created a shared assembly and assigned it a Strong Name. I have installed the assembly in the GAC (c:\WINDOWS\assembly) with the .NET Configuration tool. Up to now it looks OK. From my client, I have tried to add reference to that assembly in the GAC (Project --> Add Reference). I have selected the .NET tab, pressed the Browser button, picked the c:\WINDOWS\assembly directory...

Hi Gurus .. I would really appreciate some insights for the problem that bugs me for quite some time. I keep my custom controls in their own shared (private/public key signed) assembly. I need to have it shared. Usually I work with a Web application project that has a reference to my shared, custom controls assembly. Web project is a "Startup Project". I need to be able to set a breakpoint in my Custom Controls (shared) project. VS.NET...

Hi, We developed some assemblies which use EnterpriseServices queued components. In order to use EnterpriseServices, these assemblies need to be installed into GAC. I used the pre-build and post-build events to automate GAC installation processes and the asp.net application has "copy to local" set to false for the references of these shared assemblies. However, every time we made the changes to the shared assemblies, we had to restart...

1. I have a Base class that has a certain amount of functionality. 2. Then I have a CodeSmith generated class that inherits from the Base class and adds functionality. 3. Since I want to be able to re-generate the classes on level 2 I have a 3rd level that inherits from them and implements specific hand coded methods. 4. My colleague asked me to create a 4th level class that inherits the 3rd level class so he can write custom...

Hi there, I would like to develop an interface that when implemented in a class requires a number of shared properties or methods to be available. It seems a Shared Member can not be used as interface member implementation?! Is there a workaround to this problem?! Best regards, Philippe Rubbrecht

Hello! In directory c:\window\assembly(GAC) can you find a lot of global assembly names which is called shared assemblies. Hello! If I select a private assembly in ILDASM I get a lot of information listed but if I select a shared assembly located at c:\window\assembly(GAC) I get nothing listed. So is this normal not seeing anything when using ILDASM on any shared assembly located in the GAC. Now to my second question: If I create a shared assembly from a private assembly and then use

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
