I have several applications running in a hosted environment and the provider will not allow either a session state service or a session state on the sql server. Is there any way I can add the session state tables to my own database and use that instead? I have tried to put the "initial catalog" in the connect string, but .Net doesn't like that... Quick question regarding best practices for using the AspState database for storing session variables in .NET web applications. I know I need to configure the web.config file with a database user account that can not only execute stored procedures in the AspState database, but the account needs to be able to create temporary tables, etc. as well. What do others typically do for this? Obviously, I don't want to use my sa account for this...

We are stress testing our application. We see 100 SPIDS connected to the ASPSTATE and then the pages request per unit time slow down to barely nothing. It appears that somehow the ASP.NET session stuff is not returning connections to the pool and that these SPIDS are being orphaned just like when you don't call conn.Dispose() Sooner or later the aspnet_wp.exe process will recycle because it's deadlocked.

I'm trying to put together a web form that lists all current session information. The session info is stored in SQL server database (ASPState) and I'm trying to retreive and display using a SQLDataReader. I seem to have no trouble querying the "ASPStateTempSessions" table but when I try to write it to the page, I throw an exception that basically says that there is no data to display. Is there some special method you must use when performing...

We just discovered that the "temp' database ASPState is in full recovery mode. Is this necessary? Seems ridiculously overkill seeing that when we reboot the sql server machine we really don't need asp state to remain persistent. Also causes our tlog to be unnecessarily large..... Is it safe to change this to Simple ???? Thanks for any input.....inquiring minds are waiting for me to answer :)

We have a number of databases mirrored including the ASPState session database used by the websites. However the connection string to the ASPState database does not allow you to include the 'Failover Partner = ServerB' parameter, and it does require you to have the 'Data Source = ServerA' parameter. (Where ServerA = Principal, ServerB = Secondary.) Normal databases that allow you to have 'Failover Partner' parameter work great. How is...

I don't know if I should post this here or in SQL Server, but thought I'd start here. We have been using the default ASPState database that microsoft creates for session state tracking. Even though we sometimes only have 10-15 users connected, it is the highest source of database waits on our entire SQL Server. The waits are always on CPU and "LCK_M_U", whatever kind of lock that is. I used to only delete expired sessions 1 x per week...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
