vs.net 2005 beta

I installed vs.net 2005 on a machine that also has vs.net 2003 on it.
Since all of the 2003 projects then got converted to 2005 projects, I
decided to uninstall 2005 so that I could do some work on the 2003
projects. This worked OK, but now I want to re-install 2005 and it will
not reinstall .net framework 2.0. I'm wondering if uninstalling 2005
also uninstalled some 2003 files as I now can't reinstall or uninstall
2003? When I try to uninstall 2003 I get this error :

[02/11/05,14:33:38] setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent ::Pre/Post/Install()
failed in ISetupManager:: InstallManagerH elper()
[02/11/05,14:33:38] setup.exe: [2] Component error string not specified
in ISetupManager:: AddToActionResu ltCollection()

Can anybody help me out with this?
Any assistance would be really appreciated!

Cheers,

Mike

I hate to be the one to break the news, but the beta versions are
notoriously bad at uninstalling. Chances are you'll need to rebuild
the machine.

I don't know if you'll find specific help for the problem, but you
might view the beta readme files to see if they mention any registry
keys or files to manually delete. Fixing what the beta left behind
might allow you to uninstall / reinstall 2003 normally.

I've been using Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1 for the last few weeks, and I now want to try using SQL Server 2005 Beta with it. I've been to the Microsoft URL http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/sql/ which allows you to download a product called SQL Server Express (April CTP). It also specifies that you must uninstall all Express software and the .NET framework 2.0 from your machine before downloading. Does this mean uninstalling the VS...

Hi I installed .NET 2005 express edition, and am about to unnistall it again because it can't seem to be able to even insert a resource file into a project. Can anyone tell me is this right? Should it be able to? I know it's express edition, and therefore limited functionality, but surely resources are quite fundamental? Also, once it's downloaded, is there any way of getting access to the fully downloaded file incase you want to...

I'm using VS 2005 Beta 2. In VS 2003, the Page directive in an aspx page has Language and CodeBehind attributes. You can have the language be different than the code behind file language. For instance, you can have Language="vb" CodeBehind="classA.cs" In VS 2005, the CodeBehind attribute seems to have been replaced with

I just visited the MSFT web site and saw the comparison/pricing of the different VS 2005 versions. I was looking for a statement of the system requirements for VS Pro and VSTO, could not find. Also, more details on the differences between VS Pro and VSTO. For example, can VSTO be used to create a DLL, in particular, a DLL that can be used as an ActiveX DLL with Office? In VSTO, other than the addition of the support for Office 2003...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
