Streaming response to browser

Hi,
I want to render my response(ASP.NE T) as excel format. So I am using

Response.Conten tType = "applicatio n/vnd.ms-excel";
Response.AddHea der("Content-Disposition", "filename=resul ts.xls");

But I have more than 10,000. Is there any way that I can improve the
response by streaming (uisng MemoryStream or any other Stream class) ?

Thanks,
Raja

If you want to stream the response you can use the Response.Flush method.

I am playing with the XMLHTTPRequest method to perform client/server transactions. I have it set up right now so that when readyState is 4, it takes the XML and processes it. This works great until there is alot of data. In that case, the user will have to wait for the data to come back which may take a minute or so. I don't want the user to have to wait. Is it possible for javascript to periodically (while still receiving more data)...

I have a web site where the user is able to download a file. I can't use an anchor tag because I don't want the user to see where the filename is coming from. Below is the code in which the user clicks to get the file. I could swear this used to work but it definitely doesn't now. Each time at the Response.End() method, I get a System.Threading.ThreadAbortException. I'm not really sure why it is happening. Any clues? Eric Dim...

I have an ASP.Net web app that generates a Crystal Report in PDF format. Since there is sensitive data within the reports, the pdfs need to be streamed to the browser then deleted immediately. The report gets kick off by a Java application redirecting the URL to the ASP.Net app on the IIS Server with all report selection criteria appended to the querystring. The Crystal Report is rendered in a new window. In the Page_Load() event, I...

Hi, I have a Word document that is stored outside of the virtual server and I need to send it to the browser. I have tried using the code below (which seemed a little too simplistic!). The browser pops open a dialogue asking to save a word doc but the doc is empty. Dim f As File f.Open("c:\test.doc", FileMode.Open)

Hi all, is there a better way to stream binary data stored in a table in sql 2005 to a browser in .net 2.0? Or is the code same as in .net 1.1? We noticed that in certain heavy load scenarios, every now and then the client would timeout and have to re-initiate the request... TIA!

Hi everyone, We've have files we'd like to store in a SQL Server blob or text column and make available online for our clients. Instead of linking to a document sitting on a file server, we figure it'll be easier to manage the document store this way. Could someone point me to a tutorial or online docs on what classes .Net provides for streaming bytes (I assume that's what I'll be doing) from a database to a web browser and vice...

I have an aspx page that is sending pdf files to client browsers: it uses a filestream to read the pdf file and response.binarywrite to send content to the browser. This has worked great for years in IE, Firefox and Opera on windows, and it works on a Mac with Firefox and Opera. But this fails in Safari with the generic message "A network error occurred while accessing this document". Here is a link to try out ...

Hi all misters, I hope someone can help me here. Here is my problem. I stream the PDF files to the browser because they contain private information and they are not located within the web site itself. The application opens the PDF file and then streams it to the browser. I call to ASPX page like this: ShowFile.aspx?IDFILE=100&NAME=000040.pdf.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
