TagPrefix issue

( I know this should be posted in the BuildingControl s forum but I don't get
much help over there)

I'm going through this book on asp.net server control development. I wrote
a control using the namespace:

ESS.ServerContr ols

The book says that if I put the following in my control's AssemblyInfo.vb
file that my controls will be prefixed by an "ess" tagPrefix:

Imports System.Web.UI
..
..
<Assembly: TagPrefix("ESS. ServerControls" , "ess")>

But it does not work. When my control gets dragged onto an aspx page, a
TagPrefix of "cc1" gets generated instead of "ess".

Anyone know what is wrong?
Thanks
G.

Ok, so a new question... Im building my page as dynamic as I can... meaning that I have basicly one aspx page that controls everything... so, I solved this by sending different variables to the page depending on where i want to go, eg. www.myserver.com/gotopage.aspx?page=mainpage ok, so, on this gotopage.aspx I have used a lot of usercontrols to show the defferent contents of my pages (to keep the design at one place and the code in...

Hi I've created a new custom Web control. I have tried to customize the assembly attribute TagPrefix . However, each time I drag my custom control onto a form, it's TagPrefix is still "cc1". What am I missing here My control is nested within two namespaces: for example, OuterNamespace and InnerNamespace. Taking that into account, the AssemblyInfo.cs of my custom control's solution contains the following additional lines .. using...

When you drag a web user control onto your design surface, VS.NET automatically assigns the tagprefix = uc1. Does anyone know how to change the default tagprefix for all web controls you drag onto a web form? Thank you.

Can anyone tell me what the equivalent in 2005 is for 2003's line <Assembly: System.Web.UI.TagPrefix("Temporal.WEB.Controls", "twebc")> in the AssemblyInfo file? I have an assembly of my own custom webcontrols which i am trying to port to 2005, but cannot seem to find this piece of info. Thanks in advance, - Arthur Dent.

I'd like to set the tagprefix of my server controls automatically when they are dragged to the webform. My code reads <Assembly: TagPrefix("CtrlLib", "abc")> Namespace CtrlLib <DefaultProperty("Text"), ToolboxData("<{0}:TextBoxPlus runat=server></{0}:TextBoxPlus>")> _

Is there a way to define a controls tagprefix in the control itself? When I drop a control on a web page it's tagprefix defaults to uc1, as expected. Where can I set it so that it's default tag prefix is something else, so i don't have to change 'em every time I drop a control on the form? Thanks. Jerry

We have a custom (ascx) control that is used in several pages. In ASP.NET 1.1, we had register tagprefix specified in every page that uses this control; in 2.0, I decided to add this control to one more page so I added tagprefix registration to web.config. However, when I tried to open the page (after building the app ofc) it gave me errors in control's page_load - all of its inner controls (textboxes etc) were nulls. As soon as I copy...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
