http://www.JavascriptToolbox.com/bestpractices/
I started writing this up as a guide for some people who were looking for
general tips on how to do things the 'right way' with Javascript. Their code
was littered with document.all and eval, for example, and I wanted to create
a practical list of best practices that they could easily put to use.
The above URL is version 1.0 (draft) that resulted. IMO, it is not a
replacement for the FAQ,...

Hello
I am trying to run a few INSERT queries only if the user clicks 'continue'
in a <a href> The queries takes variables created from SELECT queries. I
have tried to acheive this by putting The INSERT queries into a function at
the top of my php file and having the SELECT queries below it. I have a
message that pops up that includes a link to the function but I cant get
this to work and am not sure of the best approach. Can anyone help?...

Over the past few days (in my spare time in the evenings) I've been trying
to think of a table design that would best lend itself to paging the content
for the purpose of paging articles on a website. You might say this is an
exercise in putting lesser-known theory into practice.
Here are the basic business requirements in no particular order:
1. The website will be geared towards providing (and paging) technical
content (technical...

I am finding that time after time I have instances where I need to access
information in a variable that is public. At the same time, the books I
read say that one should not use public variables too much - that it's bad
programming practice. Is there an easy way to deal with this? I would like
to do things in the "Best Practices" way but at the same time I don't want
to make a federal case out of it.
This comes up over and over...

Hi,
I'm having a problem with page caching and therefore reusing dropdown box
contents.
Scenerio:
user1 has security to see list of three items(.aspx populates it with three
items only) in dropdown on page1.
user2 has security to see list of two items in dropdown on page1.
user1 logs in.
when user1 gets to page1, dropdown has three items.

Hello,
I have a search application to search data in tables in a database (3 sql
server tables). I populate 2 comboboxes with with data from each table. One
combobox will contain unique CompanyID's. The second combobox will contain
unique memberID's. Each of the tables that I have to search contain a
CompanyID and a memberID field, and these fields are not unique in the
respective tables. Like
CompanyID, MemberID

Hi all,
I am pretty new to asp.net; I've done lots of classic asp, but am just
beginning to get my mind wrapped around .net.
What I'd like to do is include some code that tests if a user is logged
in, on each and every page, and redirects the user to a login page if
s/he's not logged in. The login page will also take care of some
standard setup, such as choosing/populating a user profile. I used to
use <!-- #include ... --for this,...

I am about to start on a module that will accept a location from
a user, use Google geolocation services to get the lat/lon and
then compute the distance from the site visitor to about 100
kennels (could grow to 1000 eventually).
Once I have the distance I need to sort the kennels by distance
and present those within 500 miles.
Approach 1: read the kennel lat/lon from the mysql kennel record
compute the distance

Hi all
This is not strictly a Python question, but as I am writing in Python,
and as I know there are some XML gurus on this list, I hope it is
appropriate here.
XML-schemas are used to define the structure of an xml document, and
to validate that a particular document conforms to the schema. They
can also be used to transform the document, by filling in missing
attributes with default values.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
