vb.net web form text box not displaying correctly

I have a text box on a web form here is the HTML for it :-

<asp:textbox id="winPts" style="LEFT: 170px; POSITION: absolute; TOP:
80px" runat="server" Width="24px" maxlength="2"></asp:textbox>

This is one of several such boxes. The problem I have is on my lap
top using Viual Studio 2003 the text boxes display as intended. I
have copied the source code across to my desktop and when I run the
page using Visula Studio 2003 the form displays but the outline of the
text box is significantly longer than the same display on my lap top.

I also have a similar problem with listboxes i.e. on my desktop the
list boxes are displayed significantly smaller than intended i.e.
smaller than displayed on my lap top.

The Form tag is <FORM runat="server">

Both machine use XP Profession IE6.

Other text boxes on another page seem to be OK.

Why the difference in the display of these boxes?

Thanks in anticipation

They are different but 1280 * 1024 on the desktop and 1024 * 768 on
the laptop.

That is not the issue as the page will have to display on a variety of
screen resolutions. Why are some text boxes on other pages OK?
Other elements of the page e.g. tables, labels, frames appear
correctly.

Guidance need please.

Guys

I seem to have sorted it. I moved the width="24px" to within the
<style> tag the text box is now the correct width. Quite it was
right in my laptop but on my desktop until I made this change is one
of lifes little mystries.
