I have multiple functions that dynamically build parts of a page. It
can take 15-30 seconds for this process to complete. In IE nothing
appears until the page is complete. In Netscape parts of the page
appear as built.
Is there any way to display a "Please Wait" message that displays as
soon as the first javascript begins and disappears when the javascripts
have completed? Some scripts are in the header and some in the body. I

Hi,
can someone tell me if it's possible and if yes what the script is and
where to put it in order to:
have the browser check upon loading page X to see if the user's
computer has Flash player installed. If answer is "no", then browser
loads page Y instead of page X.
Would such a check, if possible, be likely to be
cross-browser/platform understood?

I have a webpage, lots of javascript that i pulled from various places,
the menu script pre-loads about 50 small images, it only takes about 5
seconds for broadband but for lower band connections i really dont want
someone stuck in nether internet because the site's pre-loading a bunch
of images.
Ive seen lots of flash sites have a pre-loading page, with a status
message.

Hello,
I've got a fairly typical request to show a "Plese Wait" page while a
long process is running. In this case, the user fills out a form,
presses the button, a process searches for items, and in about 6
seconds it is returned.
I've read up on the normal ways of doing this with a new Thread() or
with a META tag to refresh the page, but it seems most of these
methods use Session. We're not using Session at all in our web

Currently what I have to do to make this work is set a session
variable to load/unload a particular control and do a Server.Transfer

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
