portal

I need some help, I need to create a "sports portal" application with a left
side nav bar which is permanent.
the nav will have NFL, NHL, etc. and in the "white space" of the portal will
display modules linked to NFl, NHL, etc.
I looked at dotnuke and that looks like it won't work for me, All the
modules will be DB driven from Oracle and several of them will have scores,
stats etc, and will need to be updated every 30 seconds.First is this
possible, second, is there anything online that i can see or use as a
template?

thx

Hi Mike,

As for the portal system , generally most exsiting template or framework
are all database driven which can help use easily build a database driven
portal system. And here are some further resources :

#Personal .NET Portal

#ASP.NET : Scripts and Controls : Portal Systems
http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/18834.html

#Project: LoreSoft Portal - asp.net portal system:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/loresoftportal/

# Microsoft Integrated Portals Technologies

In addition, if you only want to build a simple portal which don't need to
use rich data-driven, I think you can just simple use some Navigate web
controls together with frame based page structure. For example,
Make a main page which contains a left and a right child frame page. In the
left frame page, contains a treeview or TapStrip bar control to act as the
navigate menu. And in the right frame display the main modules. Here is the
navigation control gallery in the www.asp.net , you may have a look to see
whether there are any thing helpful to you:

#Control Gallery > Navigation Controls

Hello, I am looking at building a portal, and would like to make sure I pick th eright technology. I have seen that asp.net 2.0 embed the notion of portal, and figured that may be it would be the way to go. But I have discovered that there is only a Portal starter kit for asp.net 1.1 and not for 2.0, so now I am confused. Have I missed it?...
