Application registration/locking

Hi
Can anyone recommend methods or articles on creating a "registrati on" system for a web-based application

I.e
Application gets installed on a web domain e.g. www.hello.com, the user accesses the app and (the first time) they are redirected to a registration page on www.ourapp.com. They enter basic details and this "unlocks" the app on hello.com. After that, the app checks (every day?) to see if registration is OK and only runs if it is

I'd just like to read up about methods of implementing this, security risks, etc. What code is required in the app? In the registration page? How can we, for example, limit the app to 5 users and embed that securely in the registration information so that it can't easily be hacked/overriden

Thanks for any help.

Could someone provide some help or tips on creating “Registration Key” for client application? I am designing an application in VB.Net which will be distributed to our clients. I want my clients to provide “Registration Key” when they first install the application. Further, I want this “Registration Key” to be unique for each installation, which means clients have to call us for the “Registration Key”. I want to implement...

Hi I have an application which (along with many other things) uses the COM interop classes for "Microsoft Decision Support Objects" (DSO). I have done no more than included the DSO components as a reference. Prior to including these I have made heavy use of the ADO classes (yes I know that ADOMD.Net has recently surfaced :-) For this application I have built an install package in Visual Studio .Net 2003.
