I am migrating from NT 4.0 (IIS 4) to 2003 Server (IIS 6). Our Intranet
has numerous applications that utilize the FileSystemObject (FSO) and
each one is returning a "Path not found." error. These applications
work fine on IIS 4. Here is the scenario:
- Mapped Drives on server to anotheer network Drive (I.E. - Q:\)
- IIS uses different Domain accounts for anonymous access (based on the
application).
- These domain accounts have all of...

I wrote a C# asp.net app. that uses MS Access as a backend. I forgot
include in my design that the Link tables would break when I deployed
the application to the "Live" server.
The problem is: I can connect to the share on the "live" server but the
person who will periodically update the Database cant --he has to use a
SSH Secure File Transfer Client. So I can change the path in the "Link
Table Manager" to "\\Newserver\NewShare\etc.."...

Hi All,
I'm asking for opinion for the best way forward with storing the path of a
network shared document in a SQL Server table.
Essentially, I want to store in a part record the path to it's actual word
document on my client's network.
Currently, I am storing the mapped drive path when the user selects it using
the OpenFileDialog object in VB.net.

Hi,
Given a file Path, for example "C:\Data\Samples".
How do I convert this to "\\Server\Share\Data\Samples"
The original "C:" , "F:" etc may be local or a mapped network drive.
I am trying to ensure the path (stored as sting in database) is valid from
any machine, regardless of the drive mappings and shares on the machine.
any suggestions,
Tim

I posted this question some time ago, but didn't get a response. So, I'll
try again.
Hello,
I have a VB.NET app which polls mapped drives periodically looking for files.
However, if the mapped drive ever gets disconnected (remote machine
reboot), the drive is disconnected. When the remote machine comes back up,
the mapped drive generally stays disconnected(red x). But all it takes is a
F5 keypress in explorer to make the drives...

Hi,
I have a testservice.py (see below). I installed the Windows-Service
successfully. (via commandlineoption install)
The problem is that it runs only when it is in c:\windows\system32 or in
the python path.
I added the desired path (Y:\) to the PYTHONPATH environment variable
for the system account and rebooted.
When I start command line python and do a import testservice everything
is fine.

I have <identity impersonate = "true" /& <authentication
mode="Windows"/in the web.config. This is a 2.0 site. My Goal: I
want to simply have the user browse to a file on a mapped drive and get
the UNC for that file and eventually save that unc path to the database
as a link. The problem is depending on office we have the same drive
letter mapped to different servers.
My current test works when I run everything locally and maps...

Is there a way on a button press to create a browse for a file box and
then when they pick a file on a share drive to convert it to a UNC
path and that way I would save the unc path into a table and not have
to store the file? If anyone has a solution to getting the UNC path I
would love it. Please.

Before you respond with "just use GetShortPathName" please read the rest.
We have an application that places files on a file server using mapped
drives as it's path of choice. The reason for this is because using a UNC
paths makes the path longer, causing the periodic problem with a path that is
too long (over 260 chars).
We also have an asp.net app that needs to access those files. Accessing
mapped drives from an IIS application is...

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
