Question for the group
The authentication system for the site Im working on seems to function
properly and all is good. A session keeps track of everything and a
cookie is used to accept or deny access... sounds as it should be I hope.
Then when all is done logging out destroys everything and the pages are
no longer accessable. Good so far.
But two things come to mind: one is preventing multiple logins of the
user/password. The...

Hello,
I have a pop-up window that I would like to appear in front of the
browser home page when a user opens IE. Problem is, I'd like it to
never appear again if the user navigates back to the home page during
their time using the browser. However, if the user closes the
browser, then reopens, the pop-up should appear again. (you may have
guessed that this will be used for public access pc's.) I want to try
as best I can to catch...

I am experiencing some browser weirdness.
My app uses session state to hide values I prefer to keep out of the
querystring. I am testing to see what happens when cookies are fully
disabled in IE 6 and NS 7. NS behaves as expected: it has no recall of
previous requests. With IE however my app works as normal: I can still store
and retrieve values from session state. Am I imagining this? If not it
suggests to me that IE 6 always includes a...

If you have per user information that you want to store in session and the
setting in web.config is set to cookieless=false so you are intending on
using cookies, the user's browser is set to not accept cookies, what can you
do as alternative for storing that data?
What is the tradeoff if you just set the cookieless=true?
I am just trying to determine a set of best practices for this on my
project.

Greetings,
I'm hoping someone has experienced a problem I'm having:
I have an existing ASP application (working fine) that
uses an SSL server certificate. My user community is made
up of both PC's and Macintosh computers.
I've re-written this application in ASP.NET for a number
of reasons and now find that my Mac users are having
problems with the application. SSL works just fine for PC

Hello,
In our new intranet ASP.NET project, two requirements are that the browser
accept cookies AND JavaScript. We are requiring the use of Internet
Explorer 6+.
1. Using C# in an ASP.NET application, how can we code the project to check
to make sure the browser accepts cookies?
2. Where would we put this code? In Global.asax?
3. Using C# in an ASP.NET application, how can we code the project to
detect and make sure the browser...

I wish to have a link on a page that launches a new browser before it
loads the target link. The standard _new and _blank include the parent
browser's cookies. Is there an alternative method that excludes these
cookies?
Thanks in advance

When a user logs onto my site, I set some session data using php:
....
session_start();
....
$_SESSION = 'value';
....
From what I understand, this should store the session data (i.e. the
key-value pairs) in a cookie on the user's computer, and it should be

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
