Project:
----------------------------
I am creating a HTTPS File Transfer App using ASP.NET and C#. I am
utilizing ActiveDirectory and windows security to manage the
permissions. Why reinvent the wheel, right? Everything so far is
working well with the Active Directory. The problem I am having is
with adding File Permissions to a directory. I am currently using
some code courtesy of "Willy Denoyette "

I have a complex problem that needs a lot of background explanation before I can ask questions,
so here goes....
Our system consists of two servers.
-WebUI server - Windows 2000 - runs asp.net pages, and handles http requests.
All requests go through this frontend public server. Business objects are then called, which
execute stored procs, etc on the WebSQL server.
-WebSQL server - Windows 2000 - SQLServer2000 database and file...

I just reinstalled .NET 2003 (after repeated attempts to get ASP.NET
Web Applications to work). I first did a complete uninstall of .NET
2003, .NET Framework 1.1, and IIS. I also completely deleted
c:\inetpub\wwwroot and rebooted before reinstalling.
I created a new virtual directory from within IIS (e.g. MyWebTest).
Then I tried to create a new Visual C# ASP.NET Web Application
pointing to the location http://localhost/MyWebTest. I get...

If I make ASPNET a member of the admins group it can launch my COM+ object
but I do not want to do that.
What permissions do I need to set for the lowly ASPNET user so that it can
launch a COM+ object. I tried playing with COM+ roles in the MMC but not
with any luck. My COM+ object itself does not do any role checking.
Thanks,
Dave

What folders should the ASPNET user have permissions for, & what should they
be?
I keep getting 'Access Denied' or 'Server Access Denied' errors.
I have given the ASPNET user Read & Execute Permissions to my wwwroot
folder, & the application lies within a 'NET' sub folder. However, I get an
"Access Denied to 'C:\Inetpub'".
Is there a definitive list of the folders I need to give this user

Hi
I've got a web app that I've installed on a client computer. Basically it's
an intranet, and has a section where staff can upload media files for all to
see, so theyre all in a conveinient place.
Problem is, they want to store the media files on a diff directory, one that
is OUTSIDE of the website itself. They actually want a seperate drive.
I've created a virtual directory in IIS to point to that, and files are

Trying to write an xml file from within a Session. Works fine if I do
it in the Application_Start event of Global.asax, but not in the
Page_Load event of an aspx page.
If I give "Everyone" write permissions to the folder/file, everything
works fine (on my local development machine), but this is not an
option on the production server, which is outside of my control.
This also means that I cannot add new accounts with the required...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
