ASPNET User Permissions?

What folders should the ASPNET user have permissions for, & what should they
be?

I keep getting 'Access Denied' or 'Server Access Denied' errors.

I have given the ASPNET user Read & Execute Permissions to my wwwroot
folder, & the application lies within a 'NET' sub folder. However, I get an
"Access Denied to 'C:\Inetpub'".

Is there a definitive list of the folders I need to give this user
permissions on, & what permissions it requires?

Hi there, I have specified a aspnet user account to run all .net sites. This account needs access to start a .BAT File (in my global.asax on session start the app needs to execute this bat file). I have given the aspnet user Read and execute but the .bat will still not start. What specific permissions does this user need for other folders to start a ..bat file? Does the user need access to the WINNT\System32 directory or the...

I've created a web setup project for my aspnet app, and added a web folder item "tmp" to the File System editor under the web application folder. (My app uses this folder for generating image files and such) Problem is, I can't figure out how to make this folder writable by the ASPNET user during installation.I've set the writable property for the new folder object, but it doesn't give the permission to the ASPNET user.

On a Win 2k box, I can give ASPNET user permission to read, write on a folder and everything's fine. On a Windows 2003 Server box, if ASPNET user has the same permissions, i cannot write until i give the Users group write permissions as well as ASPNET user. What's going on here? Seems like the latter in Windows 2003 is LESS secure. Harry

I have a small ASP.NET app that someone designed which I need to run on our server. The server is Windows 2000 Server and has the .NET Framework installed. How can I give ASP.NET permission to run? On my dev machine I give the local ASPNET user read/write permission to the folders it needs to access, but as this is a server, the ASPNET user does not exist.

After installing MSDE2000 on my WIN XP machine, I created the database from Access using the upsizing wizard. Although the tables can be seen from the server explorer, I keep on encountering problem in building my web application. The error message is "Login failed for user\ASPNET". I've tried to supply/not supply a username and password at the SQL server login but both methods could not work. I did not create a username and password...

Has anyone else come across this? We are building an ASP.Net application that uses a certificate and private key in the local machine store. (we are testing it both on windows 2000 & 2003) We failed accessing the private key of the certificate and as we tried to figure out what is the problem we came across the following Microsoft Article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327587

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
