Hi all;
This seems at least somewhat on-topic here, so at the risk of seeming
shamelessly self-promoting, I figured I would ask.
I am the main developer of an open source CRM suite
(http://hermesweb.sourceforge.net). We are in the beta-testing of our
0.3.0 release which will include experimental support for shared hosting
environments. I would be interested in helping any interested parties
beta test the software. Any feedback...

I am trying to lock down file access of some sites in a shared hosting
environment so that different users can only access their own site's
directory with their asp.net code. However there's a problem with some
aspnet user access.
After some experimenting with ntfs permissions, I noticed that any asp.net
enabled site *must* have asp.net user have read access on the folder above
the application folder plus have read access to the...

When trying to use the function CreateDirectory on my local machine
everything works fine but when I upload the page to my webhost I get an issue
that it can't find path on D:\, though D:\ is what my website is found on.
This is an H-SPHERE web cluster host.
From my research I found that this issue is due to ASPNET account not having
read previdgeles on the root of the drive.
My question is what is the correct approach to solve this...

Hi, a customer is using our fairly memory intensive web app. in a
shared hosting environment
and the other day their host 'banned' (I think they just killed the
process) them for memory abuse.
Our app. has been profiled with SciTech's Mem Profiler, and it seems
that some of the issues relate to .NET bugs, but are alleviated by use
of System.GC.Collect(). I'm under the impression that it's generally
bad form to call this yourself, but at...

hey all,
i had a problem using the System.Net namespace in shared hosting environment
because of the trust=medium issue. however, i came across a post that
resolved this issue by using the a proxy server provided by that particular
web host.
that worked perfect but i don't understand why it worked. what did the proxy
server actually do for me?
thanks,

Hi
I feel as if I'm fighting a loosing battle with shared hosting at the
moment. I have an account with 1&1. For a whopping £16.99 a month I get
6GB of shared Microsoft hosting.
I also get the ability to have as many domains as I like, 5 web applications
and large SQL databases.
I'm currently experiencing some difficulties with a website.

Hi everybody.
A very basic web page using an ScriptManager and a RoundedCornersExtender
fails loading
at a shared hosting environment. In my local server, such page loads
correctly.
I'm almost sure that a wrong web.config is the reason.
The site is hosted at Brinkster and they say they don't have a web.config

Hi,
I am going mad with this.
I seem to have some kind of session problem. Login SEEMS to work (and
login event is recorded sucessfuly in DB (MSSQL on shared server)) but
asp pages behave as
if a user isnt logged in ie not showing user name/ logged in views
etc. As behavior is different on this shared server to my local
development environment (VS 2008/ Web Publisher) Im not sure how to
troubleshoot the problem.

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
