Hi
For a CMS admin tool I would like to provide a possibility to upload large
files to a directory on the webserver. As HTTP uploads are limited in file
size and also not comfortable in handling, I thought of an FTP solution.
Displaying a link to ftp://mydomain.com/mydirectory is easy but limited to
browsers who can act as FTP clients, such as Internet Explorer.
When looking at PHP's FTP functions and googling for web-based FTP

Hi all,
I'm sure this is a popular question that comes up every few months
here. Indeed, I've looked at some of the past postings, but I would
like to ask things differently.
Basically, I'm using a flat file to storing data. I have to do this
because mySQL is not installed on my web server, and I am not the root
user. The amount of data is so small, that it isn't worth a full-blown
database anyway. However, while the data is...

Hi all;
This seems at least somewhat on-topic here, so at the risk of seeming
shamelessly self-promoting, I figured I would ask.
I am the main developer of an open source CRM suite
(http://hermesweb.sourceforge.net). We are in the beta-testing of our
0.3.0 release which will include experimental support for shared hosting
environments. I would be interested in helping any interested parties
beta test the software. Any feedback...

I have created an IHttpHandler that waits for uploads as attachments for a
webmail interface, and saves it to a directory that is defined in
config.xml.
My question is the following:
assuming that this is suppossed to end up as a component for others to use,
and therefore I do NOT have access to their global.cs::Session_End()
how do I cleanup files that were uploaded -- but obviously left stranded
when the users aborted/gave up writting...

I am creating a small help browser. It is pretty much finished except I
cannot find how to pass a file to it (i.e. browser.exe index.html, or any
html file, and the html file opens in the browser) from the command line.
Pointers would help. : )

Hi, a customer is using our fairly memory intensive web app. in a
shared hosting environment
and the other day their host 'banned' (I think they just killed the
process) them for memory abuse.
Our app. has been profiled with SciTech's Mem Profiler, and it seems
that some of the issues relate to .NET bugs, but are alleviated by use
of System.GC.Collect(). I'm under the impression that it's generally
bad form to call this yourself, but at...

Hey All,
I'm trying to get feedback on how people handle "elevating" code from
a development environment to a production or qa environment.
Mainly my concern lies in how people manage php include statements.
Generally my sites are developed locally on my machine, then elevated
to a shared hosting environment as their "production" server. In the
past i've run into nothing but problems using include statements as
the file structures...

Hi there,
I'm brand new to ASP (from PHP background) and i am developing some content management for a web site. I'm having a problem with the fact that I want to allow image files to be uploaded to a remote web server, as the hosting package the web site is on is IIS6 and has a default file upload size limit of 200kb. As it's a shared hosting package, the default limit cannot be changed for me, therefore I'm stuck with the problem of how to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
