I doubt you can as you likely need anyway to have a local copy (at least in
the IE cache) so that the reader can open the file for printing. The user
could also download directly from the link.

I would suggest rather a PDF group (as PDF could perhaps provide some kind
of right managements or something). Post also in this group the overall goal
(why ?) so that they can suggest other ways to do so if possible (for
example a product could allow a single opening of a file forcing then a new
download if you want to use again the file achieving perhaps the same effect
you are after)...

You can easly do it by setting document security in Acrobat (disable
changes, etc). But remember to set a master password, since without it,
anyone with Acrobat Exchange can reverse your changes.

Marek

JS noob. I've seen plenty of browser detection scripts but they all seem to be slightly different and don't really fit my needs. I have various places where if the browser is IE I'd like to display else . For example, if a browser is IE I want to use this CSS file otherwise use a different one and if it's IE make this cell x pixels high else make it y pixels high. I'm sure this is easy, please excuse my stupidity. Steve.

To all Mozilla JS Guru's (IE dudes welcome), I have spent the last three years developing complex DHTML applications that must work in IE 5.5sp2+ but I use Mozilla 1.3+** to do all my development. I have build some cross browser debuggers so my users can send me verbose debug dumps. I have some success but have come to a roadblock with the basic underlying JavaScript models. The only way to get a complete stack in IE is to use the...

How is it possible that the question "How do I detect which browser the user has" is missing from this FAQ: http://www.faqts.com/knowledge_base/index.phtml/fid/125 and is only here on this with a link to old information that suggests use of "navigator": http://developer.irt.org/script/43.htm

I'd like to find if they are launching our web application through lotus notes or not. I've stumbled across the following code: private void Button1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)

So I'm half way through overseeing a large project in ASP.NET 2.0. My superiors have decided that it would be nice if we ensured the site worked on all the major platforms (as they see it: IE, FireFox, and Safari). We've made heavy usage of the new MENU control and other intrinsic 2.0 controls.... nothing fancy! just using ASP.NET's built-in controls and very nice, pervasive, and clean usage of CSS. Now I find after more testing that the...

Hi, Does anyone have a a cross-browser setOpacity function that does not use browser sniffing? I looked at the Yahoo! UI function and it detects IE by looking for window.ActiveXObject. I also looked at Scriptaculous and it uses navigator.userAgent. Thanks, Peter

Hi all, I have a real bugger of a problem that I just haven't been able to figure out. I am working on writing my own proxy server in C# using TcpListener, TcpClient, HttpWebRequest/Response and NetworkStream. I have everything working pretty well except images won't load to their location. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
