Hello I am using the System.DirectoryServices namespace classes to access Active Directory. We connect using the LDAP://DOMAIN method. The code works on local dev boxes, and in staging, but doesn't work on a particular box in our production environment. When we try to connect and do a search, we get a "The authentication mechanism is unknown" error. I have searched on Google, Microsoft Support Knowledge Base and Yahoo etc, and found this...

Hello I posted a thread about this a while back, but I can't actually find it again so I can reply to it with the solution I found, so I'm making a new thread and hoping it goes to the top of the Google search results for the error like the previous thread. This is actually a solution to a problem, not a call for help, so you can stop reading now unless you're actually interested in the solution :)

Hi, I'm having what should be a minor problem but has turned into a 2 day slug fest with ASP.Net. I am simply attempting to authenticate my asp.net application users against users in an AD group set up on our domain. It seems to me I am missing something very simple and obvious, but none of the MSDN articles I have read are indicating what this might be. My setup is ASP.Net running on a Windows 2003/IIS 6 server. IIS security...

OK I have a web site that was built by someone else who is paid to maintain it. They used VS2003 / VB.NET. I have written a few pages for it that work with a back end database. My pages were written in C#. Our web.config files differ WRT authentication mode; they = Forms, me = Windows. Their web site is like this www.domain.com www.domain.com/pages www.domain.com/pages/product1 www.domain.com/pages/product2

Has anybody used RSA's (www.rsasecurity.com) tokens with PHP? I bought all the server-side software, and I'm looking for the easiest way to do this. Goal is to have a web-based system where to log in one must put in userid, password, and the digits from the SecurID token. Thanks.

Hi. We have an asp.net intranet application written in VB that uses forms authentication for all it's pages. I have a C# asp.net application that I just wrote. The company would like the C# application to authenticate using the same mechanism as the intranet app. Therefore...if I try to login to the c# app, it should redirect me to the intranet login. Once I pass authentication, I should be able to access the c# app. Now. Here is...

I am currently working on the application that need to simulate basic authentication programmatically using user's credentials that are known. Basically, the need is for a single sign on with a third party application. The scenario is the following: a third party application (iChain I believe, from Novell) is used to authenticate the user against Novell eDirectory. Once authentication is complete a user is taken to a portal from which they...

Anyone doing python application authentication using RSA SecurID tokens? We have a Pylons app that needs this. I've written code against RSA's API and found the docs terrible and the libraries painful to use. RSA has a RADIUS server fronting their server so I expect I could use that instead, might be easier. This is on Solaris10 x86 which supports PAM but I've never accessed PAM from Python, any pointers? I've done RADIUS before...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
