File system object in to get Properties --> Summary information

Would I use the file system object to get the information Summary
information
for a file? When I right click a Word doc and go to Properties --> System
Tab,
there's information that I'd like to access to display on my web page.
That information is set when somebody fills out the Properties information
within their MS Word application.

If FSO the way to go for this? Or do I need an MSWord .dll?

Thanks,

Do

Hi Everyone, I am writing a program to perform backup operations using the VB scripting File System Object to copy to removable media storage devices. The backup operation works fine, but when we attempt to remove the backup device, we often get a "Delayed Write Failed" error message, indicating that data was cached and the copy was not actually finished before device removal. The problem now is how can we guarantee that all data is...

I am using the file system object to determine the available drive space (and total drive space) of UNC path directories, however I am also trying to strong name the DLL. While I can create the key for my DLL, it cannot build the DLL because the File System Object is not strongly named "Interop.Scripting does not have a strong name". Is there a way around this (late binding, I would guess) or some other way to get around this? The...

Hi. I have a virtual path setup in order to give my web server access to a file on my app server. I am using the file system object to check for the existance of the file and if it exists, it has to validate the file date. The problem is I can't seem to find the file. I can successfully check for the existance of a file on the web server, but once I enter the virtual path it can't find anything. All three of these calls return...

Is there any way of rollback any changes made by the file system object in the event of an error. I delete a file and copy one somewhere and the copy fails is there anyway to rollback the delete. Essentially a file system version of a transaction. Regards, Chris.

Im no ASP expert but have inherited a site that scans a load of folders for PDFs using the file system object. All the PDFs are held in a time based heriarchical folder structure i.e. Year\Month\Date (in format 150207, thats UK date). The first page lists the current month with all the days that have folders. In the format (15 February 2007) a function converts the folder name to this format. All the folders are then put in an array and...

The friendly URLs in ASP is the goal of my project. However, in ASP there is no obvious page mapping as I researched compared to other languages. What I mean is making www.site.com?page=Home being www.site.com/home/. One of the workaround I know is to use MS XMLHTTP request on www.site.com/home/index.asp page which will get the HTML content of www.site.com?page=Home. I might replace some folder depth if needed in resulting HTML. However,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
