ASP.NET Auction Application

Hi, I am currently working on a web auctioning project
using .NET technologies as part of my University
dissertation. I have gathered a fair amount of information
through my research on the general structure of auction
applications that includes database designs, bidding
algorithms, security/login mechanisms and end-of-auction
services -all in .NET.

My project description is as follows:
The objective is to develop a Web-based auction
application implemented with Microsoft .NET technologies.
The application will allow users to participate in an
online trading community based on a simple ascending-bid
auction model that employs a proxy bid system. The
application will allow a casual user to browse active
auction items and registered users to buy and sell items
in addition.

The interface will be developed using ASP.NET while the
core logic will be implemented using ADO.NET technologies.
The entire application will be written in C#. The backend
data tier will be managed by an SQL Server 2000 database.
A Windows Service that executes on the server will be
implemented to automate the task of managing the auction
database. Certain areas of the application may be exposed
as an XML Webservice to allow the interaction of smart
clients - such as user bidback from mobile devices.

The auction application will be developed from a research
standpoint that will include current security issues
regarding such web-based applications and the
developmental and evolutionary phases within both an
existing criterion and conceptual paradigms that are
explored through cutting edge technologies.
I would be delighted to exchange information and ideas
amongst developers making similar applications. Thanks.

Ravi.

Where can I find information (books/links/webcasts, etc) that'll give me the basic architecture of developing a site? It won't have all of the advanced functionality of sites such as ebay, but it would include the basic functionality of an auction site: the user registration, real-time auctioning or buying of the item, posting items, payment of item purchased/listing made, feedback, departments and categories, etc... Are there any books...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
