IIS 5.0 / Win2k Hangs up when Reading file using Server.FileSyst emObject

Status: Unsolved and puzzling

Steps to reproduce the error:

1.- Delete IUSER from server
2.- Reboot server (OS rebuilds IUSR)
3.- Assign IUSR read and execute permission on web folder
and enable propagation
of inheritable permission on child folders.
4.- Read a file using Server.FileSyst emObject into the web
folder

Problem symptoms: Web application hangs up (inetpub.exe)
keeping
service from restarting and eventually server processor is
used to 100%. No
event is generated on Application Event Log or System
Event Log.

Restarting isolated process generates irreversible error
message "The server is
currently disabled." Then, the server must be rebooted to
recover web service.

WARNING: Deleting users is problematic when affecting
system related users.
Recreating a deleted user DOES NOT recover formerly
assigned security
permissions.

I'm using IIS on W2k, using ODBC access to the database (which is on the same server as IIS). The system is designed to generate reports from users after they have walked thru a few pages, supplying report parameters. The actual creation of the report is done on another server, accomplished via a COM object that the web server creates. This all works wonderfully. However, after going thru this process, it seems the database...

In the code below I'm trying to create a directory. It works on the production server, but it doesn't on my dev server; I'm running XP Pro, but I don't belong to a domain; I'm running it in a workgroup instead. I've enabled the write option in IIS on the directory. Because I'm not in a domain, there's no security tab on the property dialog for the folder in Windows Explorer, so I can't assign IUSR access right there. Do you have any...

Hello all, I've got a VERY strange network problem with Win2k Server and .NET. I've got one central server (hub) getting raw binary data (files) from many locations. Both server and clients are written in C# The server is quite simple: two threads, one accepts new connections and decides whether the client is authenticated to send data or not, and the other thread serves already connected clients: performs a Socket.Select and then...

I have an application where users need to upload images and in my web.config file I have a setting like this: <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="512" /> Which restricts image larger than 500k from being uploaded. I'm also using the HtmlInputFile control to do the uploading. My problem is that when the user's file size exceeds 512k, the page immediately redirects to the "The page cannot be displayed" error page which is very confusing. ...

Hi there I've got a hang of a problem ... I'm running the .NET framework (2.0.40903), SQL Server 2000 and SQL Express 2005 on Windows XP Pro on a pretty good and new IBM Thinkpad X41. Some time ago, following the advice in http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnvs05/html/codecompilation.asp, I used aspnet_compiler.exe to compile my application. Soon thereafter, every

Perhaps I should be a bit more specific. When using this code to connect to a remote XML-RPC server (C++, xmlrpc++0.7 library): import xmlrpclib server = xmlrpclib.Server("http://10.10.101.62:29500") print server.Connection_Request("roberto") the Python command line 'hangs' until I kill the server. Then, the correct output is suddenly displayed:

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
