cant open ASP.Net project

Hello,

i am trying to open an old project of mine and i get the error:
'The web server reported the following error when attempting to create or
open the web project located at the following URL:........ HTTP/1.1 500
Internal Server Error'

Does anyone have any idea what does this error mean and how can i get rid of
it?

I am sure the project location is correct and all the project files are
present

Thanks in advance
Regards
Ishan
