Anyone know how to resolve --> msxml3.dll error '80072ee7' The server name or addres

2 New Member
I have five websites with my hosting service. I built them all with FrontPage. Several months ago, my web host removed FrontPage extensions from its servers. That meant I could longer access and open web files for editing.

Last Friday (2/6), I downloaded MS Expression Web 4. After logging on to the host servers to do some editing, I began to get this error on my web browser for ALL of my sites --

msxml3.dll error '80072ee7', The server name or address could not be resolved, /LM/W3SVC/9/ROOT/global.asa, line 66

On three of the sites, I never opened a single file. Yet the error occurred.

Has anyone seen this before? All my webs were working fine until I accessed the server with Expression Web 4. I hope there's a fix out there somewhere.

ANSWER -- The problem was that someone hacked my hosting account and uploaded a malicious global.asa file that shut down my website's ASP pages. The install of EW was only coincidental to the real problem. So if this ever happens to you, consider the possibility that a malicious upload could be the culprit.

I have created 2 ASP pages that gives users the option of switching back and forth between French and English. They click on the word English and it converted the text to English and the French link converts the text to French. In the ASP page with the form on it there is an includes file pointing to the scripts page. The scripts page holds the values for both languages. It works great in ASP but as soon as I rename the page to a .aspx...

The error I get is: msxml3.dll error '80072efd' A connection with the server could not be established /xmlhttp.asp, line 19 Line 19 reads, "xmlhttp.send PostString" and PostString is a valid POST string.

Hi, We have a situation where we want to move our current database server to a different hardware and rename the server. If we change the Physical server name, do we have to go thru the whole process of changing it in sql server by running sp_dropserver, sp_addserver? Can we have an alias for the server name in DNS and can sql server resolve the server name internally by going thru DNS? For eg: Our current database server name is...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
