XMLHTTP object question marks in display

I saw some posts about this problem in the archives.
But I can't gleam what the solution is...
This works fine except
• <== here is the problem
the dot becomes 2 question marks (try the code) when displayed
I try replace on the response text but I can't replace anything!
I understand that this has to do with char encoding on high ascii chars etc.
can anyone fix this to work?
Any help would be great.
I would be happy to just lose the ?? in the output.

I've tried everything from simple ASCII comparison, to Hex comparison, to multiple encodings across different variables. I even attempted to match using the RegEx engine.

Nada. Those characters do not exist when scraped.

Dear js/xmlhttp experts, I spent hours but could not solve this problem and hope someone could give me a clue: a onclick event will invoke a function to do a few things: 1. make a hidden DIV "wait" message visible by changing its style.display to "block" 2. download the data with XMLHTTP 3. make the hidden DIV message invisible by setting its display to "none".

Greetings, I'm having a problem when I try to GET a file from my server via xmlhttp when using Mozilla. With IE I can get any type of file fine, get/display headers fine, etc. With Mozilla, using the same HTML/JS it always returns no data (xmlhttp.responseText is null). When I try to get headers using Mozilla or display the http status code I get some obscure exception in the javascript console that I've given up on searching for an...

I have a question regarding async mode for calling Microsoft.XMLHTTP object. Microsoft.XMLHTTP hangs the IE once in a while suddenly, but it will work again after half an hour or so without doing anything. I have searched through the Internet and seems like the reason it hangs the browser it's because XMLHTTP limits you to two concurrent HTTP connections to each remote host; so if more than 2 concurrent connections strike the script...

Ive copied an online example for writing out a php file, programmatically, then would like to re-display that data in a browswer window that automatically refreshes as the data file (getdata.php, which is the file I am programmatically rewriting to elsewhere) gets changed. I am trying to use AJAX and JSON to do this. I have copied an example of using HttpRequest Object as the backbone of this from...

Hello, I create an ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP") from my HTML page to submit (i.e. post) XML to a server. I can see the content of the XML response via javascript alert(xmlhttp.responseText). Is there a way to display the content of xmlhttp.responseText on a new page?? I tried document.write(xmlhttp.responseText) but this does not display the XML structure.

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
