To my knowledge there is no way to "measure" an image width\height in run time code in vb\asp.

What you would need is the width and height already established in a excel table or file that can be read into your database as a file to be processed with the corresponding file names in it or something.

Or you can have text box fields where you can enter the file path, the width and the height, then hit upload to do your processing.

Is this what you mean?

For Gif files there is a designated place about 10 characters from the start of the file that specifies the size, a 10 by 10 picture starts out something like this: g i f 8 9 a ... 10 0 10 0 ... I would imagine that other image formats have similar size tags near the beginning of the file.

I've got users uploading a file, which I then want resize, make a thumbnail out of, then delete. The image and thumbnail are working fine, but when I try to delete the image, I get an error: "The process cannot access the file "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\pictures\1\21_orig.jpg" because it is being used by another process. " I'm using the Image.Dispose() method before trying to delete it; how do I free up this image? Thanks in advance,

How would you go about create a web control that allows you to upload images and limit the dimensions (width/height) of the image? The control may be put on any page, which may not contain the correct EncType (multipart/form-data), so I would want it to set the EncType of the form. Can a control be done that extends on an already existing control - the one I have in mind is MetaBuilder FileUpload control...

I know that Photoshop can do it but I need to do it dynamically in my web page. I tried doing it myself with some of the Bitmap thumbnail instructions but the resulting image is very bad. I need a file reduction routine that creates a good image...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
