Excel to ASP , work sheet not in correct fromat

3 New Member
hi guys,
can any one help i am looking for a possible solution in ASP, where user puts an excel file into a folder, the file name is obviously unknown to scripts and then i need to iterate through the worksheet and its coulombs without knowing the name of the file or its worksheet.

i know standard solution, establishes the connection to excel already on the server and you just need to give the file name and worksheet that you are concerned with, but what if you just specify the folder and what come may sort of thing ............... ....

another problem with those excel files.......is that they are not in standard format like name ranges specified on the worksheet...... ..so in some files the data start way down from fourth or fifth row having blank rows before the actual columbs start .........
is there any work around, where scripts handle this inconsistency.. .....

many thanks for you suggestions in advance

You can easily list all of the files in a folder using the scripting.files ystemobject, and use those names to decide which files to open. Look it up and if it gives you any trouble, let me know.

deciding which worksheet to open or which line to start on might be harder, but I haven't tried working with excel files that much, so I'm not even sure where I would start.

Hi Folks, I'm a brand new Python programmer, so please point me in the right direction if this is not the best forum for this question.... I would like to open an existing MS Excel spreadsheet and extract information from specific worksheets and cells. I'm not really sure how to get started with this process. I ran the COM Makepy utility from my PythonWin (IDE from ActiveSTate),

Hi all I need to add data from two Excel sheets (both on the same workbook) to an existing table in my SQL DB. The problem is that each sheet holds different fields for the same record, though the records are sorted by row numbers. (I had to split the fields to different sheets because Excel has a limit of 256 fields in each sheet) My sheets are quite large (~55,000 rows and 200 columns each) and I'll have to repeat this action many...

I have a user who has been using Excel for a while to keep statistics and print reports. She finds using it cumbersome because of long formulas and a lot of copying and pasting. I have designed a database for her which is intended to make things a lot easier; however, I don't have a lot of experience with Access and I find that designing the reports in Access is tedious. I want to be able to print the reports (which are simply based on...

hello all you gurus. I am struggling with releasing com objects. I have isolated the problem to the code below. Objects are released and the process ends until I use "int k = sheet.Count;" Then the process does not end. So I feel confident the problem occurrs here. It appears another reference is created that needs to be closed. Can anyone tell me how to do this? :) Thank you Excel.Workbook workbook =

So I have a program below which writes an excel file with multiple sheets based on inputs of sheet names, data, cell types, etc. It uses Apache POI, which is currently the only thing I found (correct me if I'm wrong about this) that can write excel 2007 files. The program works. I've tested it out on very small files (I will include the commented out main method that you can use to test this out yourself if you'd like, that is assuming you...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
