Splitting string containing non ascii characters

Hi,

I have these strings which are pulled from a database which contains both
english and chinese characters(big5 ).

e.g.

Fragrant Rice 10kg Green Dragon????
Broken Rice 10kg G.Elephant ?????

I want to split the string at the first occurance of the non ascii character
so that i can get the english and chinese parts separated. Can anyone help
with a sample function on how to do this.

Thanks

I have an XML file containing localized strings in 9 languages, encoded in Unicode (UTF-8). Im trying to parse this XML document via XSLT (Apache Xalan) to selectively render localized strings depending on a users selected language. The problem Im running into is that when the XML document is sent through the XSLT stylesheet, all European special characters (such as umlauts, accents, etc) are converted to html character entities (as...

Hello, I had what I thought was normal text-file and I needed to locate a string matching a certain pattern in that file and, if found, replace that string. I thought this would be simple but I had problems getting my algorithm to work and in order to help me find the solution I decided to print each line to screen as I read them. Then, to my surprise, I noticed that there was a space between every character as I outputted the lines to the...

I have not been able to find a simple, straight forward Unicode to ASCII string conversion function in VB.Net. Is that because such a function does not exists or do I overlook it? I found Encoding.Convert, but that needs byte arrays. Thanks, /Ger

Hi! i m new to this forum and need some help in ASP how can i validate a string so that it have only the characters of ASCII 32 to 91 and 93 to 122 ? Also if the string contains the comma (,) the whole string should be converted inside the quotes ("") i.e. if the string is: example string, Ok it should be: "example string, Ok"

Hi, What regex do I need to split a string, using javascript's split method, into words-array? Splitting accroding to whitespaces only is not enough, I need to split according to whitespace, comma, hyphen, etc... Is there a regex that does the trick? Thanks, Anat.

Hi all , I need to convert a 32 bit string containing hex digits like "76d408cedd600bb578bc0256a751cea2" into it's corresponding 16bit ascii value like "vÎÝ` µx¼V§Q΢" . Now the presence of Hex digits like "0a" ,"00" , "0b" whose ascii value is New line , NULL , Tab respectively brings the rest of the string to new line or put a tab in between .

Hi there, I believe all strings in .net are unicode by default, I am looking for a way to remove all non ascii characters from a string (or optionally replace them). There is an article on code project which kind of looks like it does what I want but I can't help thinking it makes it more complex than it needs to be.

From python manual str( ) Return a string containing a nicely printable representation of an object. For strings, this returns the string itself. The difference with repr(object) is that str(object) does not always attempt to return a string that is acceptable to eval(); its goal is to return a printable string. If no argument is given, returns the empty string, ''.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
