People:
I'm trying to convert my father from using COBOL to Python, :)
One difficult thing we stuck into is how to read, from python, files written
with COBOL.
Do you know a module that allows me to do that?
It should avoid us the work to write a COBOL program that open the COBOL

Thanks in advance for any tips that might get me going in the right
direction.
I am working on a simple exercise for school that is supposed to use read to
read a file (about 10 MB). I am supposed to change the buffer size and see
how this affects the read time. In other words, the buffer is supposed to
limit how much of the file gets read per call, and cause some change in
speed. I am supposed to do the same with fread as well, but...

Hi,
I'm having problems with changing the Read Only properties.
Running Winxp and i cannot get the "read only" to clear off a folder.
The folder is one that i want to change the data in and it won't
let me.
I have two accounts on the main system and cannot change the
properties from either administrator account.
I have tried renaming the folder and putting it back into the program
and it still won't work. All files in the folder are...

I've mananged to get Access Run-time working on a Win 98 PC. I was stoked
at that achievement, however I'm now stuck in that the files are opening
Read only. That is, I can view all the records via the two forms I need but
not change anything. Why? The command line for the user to access the file
is simply as follows (from advice via msdn.microsoft.com)
"C:\MS Runtime\Office10\MSACCESS.EXE" "Q:\QA Records Database\Vaccine...

Hello,
Whenever I try to delete a Read Only file using FileInfoObject.Delete I get
"Access to the path "File name and path" is Denied" error. This does not
happen with other files. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi there,
Does anyone know if there's a built-in way to read a ".txt" based resources
file (one that's converted to a ".resources" file by "resgen.exe" at build
time). I need to read/write the ".txt" file directly. Thanks.in advance.

I'm very new to RSS. I was given a URL that starts with "feed:". I
want to be able to open this and read in its content into a PHP
program to produce a report. I'm not interested in converting it to
HTML.
Question: Is a URL that starts with feed: output XML?
Question: How do I open a feed: URL in PHP and parse it?
Thanks!

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
