I thought I would contribute a solution for once.
We have a standard SUSE LAMP (Linux Apache Mysql PHP) server running
some custom apps, of which one component is dumping reports out to
excel. We are running this with https and all was good for a few
months. IE6 and Firefox worked fine. One day around the end of July
2005, IE6 stops doing the excel part.. Excel errors out with a "Could
not open 'https://blah.com?report.php'" . ...

Hi life saver,
I am using excel component for the development.
The purpose is to connect to excel through the odbc
connection string. Then through the connection extract
data into a dataset and then save the data into a client
machine (Intranet) as excel page using the excel
component (using Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel;)
in the code.
Please help me. I have wasted so many days on this.

has some code which looks at which template to load amongst other things,
which causes the page to take a little while to be processed. At the moment
I have programmatic page caching in the "loader" using paramater caching to
send a cached version of every requested page back to the user.

I am getting an error on a page that uses asp to query a db then opens the
page on the client in excel. The error is only occuring on XP boxes only.
If I comment out the cache killers it opens fine but I want to make sure a
user gets the most up to date data so I need some cache control in there.
What can I do to fix this?

What is the purpose of file system caching while creating a tablespace?
Memory on the test server gets used up pretty quickly after a user
executes a complex query(database is already activated), after some
investgation i found out that most of it being consumed by filesystem
caching... thanks to Liam and Phil Sherman for their valuable
suggestions. Is it safe to turn off filesystem caching on every

All,
I've recently upgraded our production ASP.NET/C# application from
framework 1.1 to 2.0. Since then I've been plagued by out-of-memory
errors and problems with the cache object (which may simply be a result
of being out of memory.)
We're running on IIS 5.1 on a single Windows 2000 server. We have a
separate database server - SQL Server 2000 64 bit. Session state is
stored on the database.

My site is a bit slow showing the main page so I thought caching query
result in PHP will improve performace.
Then I read MySQL documentation and saw that MySQL does have a caching
feature.
So... now I dont know if doing the PHP caching is worth the pain.
Would there be any noticed performace improvement if I cache query
results in PHP, considering that MySQL is already caching the queries?
