How to check server status using InetCtls.Inet?

Set Inet = Server.CreateOb ject("InetCtls. Inet.1")
Inet.URL = "http://www.yahoo.com/"
Inet.AccessType = icDirect
Inet.Protocol = icHTTP
Inet.RemotePort = 80
Inet.RequestTim eout = 60
response.write( Inet.ResponseCo de)

I got this piece of code from some forum on the web. The responsecode
is supposed to return whether the connection is sucessful (ie. got a
response from the web server) or not. However, I am finding that the
responsecode always return 0, like if i use www.yahoo.com or
www.yahoo.csdfsdfsd.

What is the best way to check whether a website is up or not using
ASP?

thanks,
Pius

Instead of me arbitrarily assigning a high port number to a variable, is it possible to check for ports that are unused and then randomly assign one of them to a variable? Something like this is what I'm thinking: port = socket.getunusedport() Any ideas?

Hi all! I've got a problem - probably easy to solve but I practically don't know Perl nor modules so it's hard for me. The problem concerns two processes communicating via sockets. I need to know that one of them died already and there is no point in sending anything to it. This is a script iris_s.pl acting as server : ===========================================

Hi, I wrote this little script to check to see if our Lotus Notes servers are running, and from the command line it works fine if I type perl notescheck.pl When I invoke the script from a web page I get an error: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

What would be a good way to check programmatically whether a service was running? We have a service that dies periodically and I need to check to see if this service is running. I know how to check to see if the status is in stopped or running mode. But that doesn't tell me if it is actually running. I need to know this so that if it happens I can programmatically start the same service on another machine.

If not the script should read the same XML file from a backup server. Does anyone have any idea how to achive that?? Any help is appreciated.

Hello, it seems like the check constraint validation of MS SQL Server Management Studio express is horribly, horribly broken. Either that or I'm using it wrong. I hope it's the latter. I'm trying to add a check constraint to an empty table. The problem is that just about no form of expression syntax seems to get accepted by MSSQLSMS. On my a table "Projects" I've created a ntext column called "status". The following check constraint...

I tried checking internet status of my system by issuing ping to some well known server like google.com. But, the problem is that ping is not working if target address is not within the same network. I actually started writing small application, which can tell the internet status of the given system by using some standard network Apis. It would be great if some one suggest me how to proceed for this. Thanx in advance, Ravindra....

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
