Running W2k Server SP4, my application event viewer says that the Active
Server Pages service is stopped.
How and what do I need to do to start the service, and why does it stop?

Thought I'd post this in case it's useful to other searchers in the future.
On one of my sites I noticed that session variables had suddenly stopped
persisting across pages. Some things I had done that may have caused this
included installing the .Net framework on my server, and installing VS.Net
EA on my workstation. I had also migrated the server to active directory.
All of a sudden session variables were loosing their values if...

Hi there
i am creating a clan website in ASP and am making a page serving
script
a link sends a query to the default page and then serves the page by
grabbing the HTML from a database that refers to the pageID.
this works like a peach whenever the page is just HTML
e.g. http://www.deathworld.net/camel2.0/default.asp?id=2

I have a website with no ssi, php, cgi...nothing. Plain old flat pages are
all it serves.
I need to upload a list to it - a big, plain text list in html. A 2Mb list!
With gzip compress, it comes down to 91Kb, much more modem-friendly!
After about 30 minutes of googling, I haven't yet found a way of serving
this page up like this.
I can't send headers as no php or .htaccess is allowed. Any ideas?

Hi all.
I'm having a nasty problem. A client's website was originally written with
classic ASP. They requested a new portion of the site that was deemed a
perfect candidate for ASP.NET. So, .NET was installed on their web server
and one of the subdirectories in the web site was converted to a virtual
application to support the new pages that would be added. The rest of the
site was left untouched. New aspx files were added to this...

Hi All
I have inherrited a local intranet site at a company I'm outsourced to. It has been working fine for some time but three weeks ago stopped accepting certain input from users on spacific pages.
These pages require user input and are used by supervisors to request user function updates on our mainframe.

In Firefox and Safari for example, if I serve my XHTML documents as
application/xml or xhtml+xml they only display the top inch or so of the
document.
In Opera it says "object has been blocked."
In Internet Explorer of course you get total rubbish. Anything from
"page cannot be loaded" to "403 no permission."
The thing is, I figured the first two at least could handle it, maybe

Hi folks,
If 2 copies of Apache are serving the same pages and
running the same PHP, what if anything could get
messed up? I am specifically thinking session
variables might, but I know I don't know... so anybody know?
Thanks.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
