Problem with file streaming over HTTP

I'm having a trouble with HTTP file transfer.
I use an ASP file to provide controlled access to some files and stream them
back to the client by adding the "content-disposition: attachment" header.
This usually works perfectly, but I've noticed that if I try to stream a
..RAR file, the client browser does not show any "open/save" window (it
simply ignores the file transfer), and .RAR appears to be the only file type
which causes it to behave this way. Can anyone explain me what this means or
what it may be due to?

I use MS IE 6 and IIS 6... and the transfers are all HTTP/1.1 of course.

Even I set the pages validated by session, anyone still can type the download url to get my files without access of the pages where download URL provided. Hi I've written an HTML page that has a link to an MPG file, to be burned onto a "Demo CD". The MPG file is quite big - 500MB. On my computer, it works fine - clicking the link opens up Windows Media Player, which starts showing the video. But on another computer, the link opens up a new browser page, and shows the video as an embedded QuickTime video. The problem is (I think this might be QuickTime's fault) that it takes about 5...

In Visual C++ is there any free library which helps me do this as 'streaming' is not part of the actual project, i am allowed to use external libraries. Also could anyone tell me where I can learn about video streaming in c++ so I can code the streaming part myself too thx

Hi, friends, I am implementing a protocol on top of 'asyncore.dispatcher' to send streaming multimedia data over TCP socket. However, I found that the throughput of my current implementation is surprisingly low. Below is a snippet of my code with a note that: the packet sent over the socket is of variable length, of which the first a couple bytes indicates the length of the packet. I implemented a 'var_str_to_int' function to get the...

I am trying to allow HTTP POST file uploads to my web service. Currently I have it working perfectly for a SOAP/XML request reading in a byte using MemoryStream/FileStream but I cannot figure out how to encode a file on a POST to the same web service. The definition requires a base64binary encoded file, which I have tried. The form is also using a mutlipart/form-data enctype, but I either get a 500 error or 'Request format is invalid'. ...

Hi I am trying to create an application that uses some form of input to create a midi file. I would like for this to be a 'real time' process. In other words, I want to be able to begin playing the midi file before I finish writing it, and continue writing as it plays. I would really appreciate any help possible on this matter. Thanks!!

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
