I'm one of those people who practices what some consider "dull" and
others consider "elegantly conservative" page design. I appreciate
good traditional typography and standards-compliant liquid displays,
and I only reluctantly experiment with two-column layouts from time to
time.
One component of traditional book typography has always been the
figure/caption combination. I haven't been following discussion on
this topic for a year or...

I have created a form onto which images can be dropped and thus added
to the OLE field of a Table (Access 2000 linked to SQL 2000 server).
I use the Stephen Lebans ExportOLE function to do this and it creates
images on my shared drive beautifully!
Being new at this I wondered if there is an easy way of taking the
image whatever it's size when pasted and always exporting it as 66*75?

Hi,
(sorry for the crosspost, I wasn't sure which was the best place to
put this).
I was just thinking about something and wondered if any of you has
some ideas about this.
I'm using the NetAdvantage component suite from Infragistics for my
web applications. When installing they create several virtual

I am seeking to hand-roll my own blog in ASP.NET 2.0 and SQLExpress
2005. Why? Because I can. Because I will gain experience.
The one thing that has me stumped at square one is inline images. That
is, images inline with the actual content of the blog itself. Is there
an example that I can be pointed to, where I can examine some code and
figure out how to do this? Frankly I haven't got a clue, aside from
breaking the content up into...

Why does SVG need a different tag than other images?
IMHO, SVG should be implemented as an image type just like any other image
type, allowing it to work with <img> tags, and ... here is the important
part ... also work with backgrounds in other tags.
I fail to see any wisdom in making SVG different than say PNG (of course
the implementation of the rendering code would obvious be different).

Hi,
I've put a site together for a client, who now wants to Content Manage both the text and images. Text isn't a problem and I've implemented this, image replacement again isn't a problem, but I'm worried that they will simply upload 1Mb photos from their camera and wonder why the performance goes down the pan. I've used ASPJpeg on another project, but this site is on shared hosting anf they wont install components, so does anyone have a...

I have written a class (Windows Form) in Managed C++ that accepts an
array of image filenames and will display them sequentially. All images
will be the same size. I got it to work, but I know something is not
right because of the way I am using Application::DoEvents() (ref:

fact that I get a crash when I try...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
