Say,
I want to set a cookie and have it expire an hour after it's set. It's
looking like this is only possible for browsers which are in the same time
zone as my server??
In other words, if I set my cookie with:

I have 4 sites sharing an account on a server that is in the US Eastern
time zone. 3 of those sites are for businesses/persons who live in the
same time zone, but one is for a restaurant in the US Pacific time zone.
For that site, I want to generate content via a script depending on the
local Pacific time and day of week. The content will change at the same
time every day: one page before 5:00am local time, a different page from

I'm a novice in this subject....I've made a database that requires a
time conversion. For example, if local time is 1200, determine the
time in Korea. I use two fields: a date field, and a time field. I
need the converted time to show up in a report. I also need the
corresponding date to increment if necessary. Any ideas on how to do

If a server in one timezone delivers up a typed dataset to a component
in another (winform for example) then the timezone conversion takes
place. This is a pain if you are doing date based calculations on the

The Postgres manual says:
The AT TIME ZONE construct allows conversions of time stamps to
different time zones.
I'd guess most people would think what's meant here is something like
"unit conversion", and that the timestamp value stays the same (much
like 2 feet becomes 24 inches when it's being "converted"). But:

I have a web application in ASP.NET that will be used globally. Data
is collected on mobile devices running Windows Mobile and sent to the
web server where it is stored and can be viewed. Data is timestamped

Hi, does anyone know why .Net incorrectly handles time zone conversion
when passing DateTime through web services? The problem is that it
seems to ignore the time zone part. My time zone is CEST, that is GMT
+01:00 + daylight saving. And the web service handles datetimes
correctly provided that they are also in CEST. But when some client
calls my web service passing dates in UTC, the .Net runtime just
