Time Zone Conversion

JJ
Hi,
Is there an asp component anywhere which will convert a GMT time in the past
to a different time zone e.g. EST?
You can't just take the hours off as there is often daylight saving hours to
take into consideration.

Thanks
JJ

No, but you can use a calendar table, because you can populate all the
timezone offsets in advance.

Hi Aaron,
Thanks for the reply, however that looks like a bit too much work to me.
The application i'm writing stores date/time in GMT.
The application might be used in any global timezone which may or may not
have DST.
I was hoping that someone might have written a component to do this.
I will keep looking.

Thanks
JJ

Say, I want to set a cookie and have it expire an hour after it's set. It's looking like this is only possible for browsers which are in the same time zone as my server?? In other words, if I set my cookie with: setcookie('CookieName', $SomeValue, time()+3600, "/");

I have 4 sites sharing an account on a server that is in the US Eastern time zone. 3 of those sites are for businesses/persons who live in the same time zone, but one is for a restaurant in the US Pacific time zone. For that site, I want to generate content via a script depending on the local Pacific time and day of week. The content will change at the same time every day: one page before 5:00am local time, a different page from 5am...

I'm a novice in this subject....I've made a database that requires a time conversion. For example, if local time is 1200, determine the time in Korea. I use two fields: a date field, and a time field. I need the converted time to show up in a report. I also need the corresponding date to increment if necessary. Any ideas on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Would appreciate some insight into how people are dealing with the implicit conversion of timezones that .NET does. If a server in one timezone delivers up a typed dataset to a component in another (winform for example) then the timezone conversion takes place. This is a pain if you are doing date based calculations on the client using input in one timezone and data from another. (Take one hour off a CET time and you go a day back in...

The Postgres manual says: The AT TIME ZONE construct allows conversions of time stamps to different time zones. I'd guess most people would think what's meant here is something like "unit conversion", and that the timestamp value stays the same (much like 2 feet becomes 24 inches when it's being "converted"). But: # SELECT NOW() = NOW() AT TIME ZONE 'UTC';

I have a web application in ASP.NET that will be used globally. Data is collected on mobile devices running Windows Mobile and sent to the web server where it is stored and can be viewed. Data is timestamped when it is sent from a PDA device to the server. I am writing software for both the web app and the PDA. The web server is located at one location while the PDA devices are located around the world. The question is, how do I handle...

Hi, does anyone know why .Net incorrectly handles time zone conversion when passing DateTime through web services? The problem is that it seems to ignore the time zone part. My time zone is CEST, that is GMT +01:00 + daylight saving. And the web service handles datetimes correctly provided that they are also in CEST. But when some client calls my web service passing dates in UTC, the .Net runtime just ignores that fact and takes just the...

Hi All, Find below some useful information about Time Zone Conversion in oracle. Hope this would be helpful for many of them since all the real time projects that we work in follow different time zones (EST,PST etc) and you might well need to convert them to something specific as per your requirements: insert into dates values(6, to_date('09/20/05 23:15', 'MM/DD/YY HH24:MI')); --The contents of the table now look like this: 1...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
