Hi all!
I am working on a Java program for managing a (real-life) sports
tournament. There are 10 teams involved, which all are to play against
every other team exactly once. Thus, each team plays a total of 9 matches.
The tournament is divided into 3 "rounds", each consisting of 15 matches.
All 10 teams are present at each round, and...

I have to write an algorithm with must ensure that objects are put in
buckets (which are always 4 in size).
The objects have two properties: A and B. It is not allowed that in a bucket
are objects with the same A or B value. But there can be more than one
object with A = null or B = null in the bucket.
Sometimes there is only one valid...

I was in need of an encryption algorithm to the following requirements:
1) Must be capable of encrypting strings to a byte array, and decyrpting
back again to the same string
2) Must have the same algorithm work with strings that may or may not be
unicode
3) Number of bytes back must either be <= number of _TCHARs in *
sizeof(_TCHAR), or the...

We are writing an app that assigns people to teams based on their curent
score. Teams are 8 people, there are 2 teams. (i would like it to be
flexible, but this is a start). I need an algorithm that creates the 2
teams such that the total score for each team is as close as possible.
Any ideas??
Thanks!

You're given an array containing both positive and negative integers
and required to find the sub-array with the largest sum (O(N) a la
KBL). Write a routine in C for the above
Any pointers on the above problem will help.
Wont sum of all positive numbers will be the largest sub-array?

Dear all,
We have just developped a new block cipher called Raiden, following a
Feistel Network structure by means of genetic programming. Our
intention now consists on getting as much feedback as possible from
users, so we encourage you to test the algorithm and send us your
opinion. We would also like to receive enhancements and new...

Hi folks!
Everyone knows how to sort arrays (e. g. quicksort, heapsort etc.)
For linked lists, mergesort is the typical choice.
While I was looking for a optimized implementation of mergesort for
linked lists, I couldn't find one. I read something about Mcilroy's
"Optimistic Merge Sort" and studied some implementation, but they
were for...

Hello all.. I wrote code in C to invert n x n matrices, where 1<n<39 and the matrices are guaranteed to be invertible. Prior to this task, I haven't really seen linear algebra since my sophmore year of undergrad, but I believe my algorithm implements Gaussian elimination. I append an identity matrix to the right of the one I wish to invert, use...

I know that Single and Double can only store values that can be stored as
x/2^y, such as 0.5 and 0.125. But when they attempt to store values such as
0.1 or 0.2 whose exact value cannot be stored, what algorithm do they use to
determine what value to store? Thanks.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
