Date format cannot be controlled

I have an unbound form (Access 2000 ADP front end/SQL server backend)
to collect parameters, one of which is a date.
The date is being reordered to mm/dd/yyyy if it involves any day up to
12th of the month. Thus the query fails as it is passing the wrong
date.
My regional setting are definately UK english and my short date format
is dd/mm/yyyy, same as the format for the unbound control.
I can't think of anyhere else the date setting could be changed.
Help - it is doing me head in!!

I seem to recall reading in the docs where any date referenced via SQL needs to be in US Date format..

Which never really made sense to me given internally dates are supposed to be stored as a number. Nonetheless...

You might find it useful to read Allen Browne's "International Dates in
Access" at http://allenbrowne.com/ser-36.html
or what I had in my September 2003 Access Answers column for Pinnacle
Publication's "Smart Access" newsletter. (The column and accompanying
database can be downloaded for free at
http://www.accessmvp.com/djsteele/SmartAccess.html)

Bizarrely, this problem has been resolved by setting the short date
format from dd/MM/yyyy to dd/MM/yy.
My advice is not to use 4 digit years for short date formats!
