Access 2007 Relationship between an ODBC linked table and a local table

1 New Member
Hi all,

I have an ODBC linked table with a 3-field combo key. I am trying to link to a local table using the relationships window. I can drag the first line fine, but when I try to drag the second key field, the error message "A relationship already exists. Do you want to edit the existing relationship? To create a new relationship, click No." displays. I have never seen this when linking non-ODBC tables. Please help.

This is nothing to do with ODBC. It is general linking.

When you drag the first field across you are creating a link. A compound key uses a single link with multiple fields, so you need to edit the link to add further fields (which the interface supports).

Hello All: Have a problem that I have never seen before and have not found anything on technet on how to resolve it. I have a SQL Server 2000 server that I have created a new database. I then used DTS to import data from a MS Access 97 database. Before making the import, I made changes to the MS Access database

I'm using Access 2000 and I'm trying to create a pass-through query to append all the data from a local table to a remote table. I'm using the SQL query editor in MS Access to create the query (I don't want to do this in VB code). I've set up the ODBC connection string in the query properties, which has been tested and works:...

I am using Access 2003 and are linking to an Oracle 9i ODBC datasource (using Oracle ODBC drivers). After linking the tables in Access, I inspect the data contained in the linked tables. For tables that involve a number field as the primary key, the data is returned successfully. For tables that involve a character field (e.g. CHAR(3) or...

I am trying to look up data on about 1000 records from a 6 million record view on a DB2 database using msaccess. The 6 million record DB2 view is connected through a linked ODBC table (table A), and the 1000 primary key numbers I want are in a local msaccess table (table B). The most obvious solution is to join table A and B, but this is...

Just curious if anyone is having issues with Acc 2007 once the number of objects and complexity increases? I have a fairly large app, with many linked tables, 100's of forms, queries, reports, and lots of vba code. I'm nearly finished with re-doing my app in access 2007, and just imported an add-in program, which has added even more forms,...

The data I am using was imported from Excel. The tables were then merged into one large table (3 million + records) and so cannot be re-exported into excel for modification. I am trying to map the transactional data back to a list of account numbers I have. (By matching the fields branch to Neab (Branch), and customer number (Pwanx) to Customer...

I have a database called RADB.mdb. I am working in Access 2007, but have to create a db in Access 2000 as some users don't have Access 2007. Everytime I setup an ODBC link in my database, Access creates a new database in Access 97 version and puts the link there. If I open up one of these databases and try to add another link, it still...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
