I'm running into a situation that has me adding a value of "Unknown" to
a reference table. I am being pulled between two trains of thought, and
was curious to get other's input on in. I give an example below.
1-) Adding "Unknown" to a reference table is bad. Doing so effectively
changes the Nullability option of every FK that references the table to
a NULLable FK relation.
2-) Simply adding a "Not Known/Undetermined" value to the...

Hi,
I am retrieving my DB values and setting them in the
MyRS::DoFieldExchange(CFieldExchange* pFX) function. One of these
records is a Long datatype and could be "Null" in the DB table.
The issue is when the DB value is retrieved it is fine for all
integers but for a "Null" value it returns a junk long value
and not a pre-defined value, say.

Hi everyone,
I have a form with several fields. One represents the primary key. If you
leave it blank and try to save the record, the forms displays the following
error message - "Index or Primary Key cannot contain a null value". I
understand why it is doing this, but I'm wondering if I can program a
friendlier message. Any help would be great.
Many Thanks!

When I trace through a csharp program I came to a situation where a certain values
has an "undefined value" as shown in the debugger DbgClr.
I want to check this but the following statements did not recognize this "non"-value
if (type.Particle != Undefined.Value) { ....
or
if (type.Particle != null) { .....

I want to pass a SqlCommand object as a input parameter to a method.
I want to pass the SqlCommand "by value" so that any updates to the
original object are *not* reflected in the object within my method.
How can I do this?

Just when I thought I was getting my head around Null values....
I have a report with three sub-reports, on each sub-report footer I count how many records in the subreport. No problemo.
On the Detail section of the main report, I have a text box which adds up all these counts and shows how many (people) in total. Again, no problems... as long as there is at least one entry in each sub-report. Ahh thinks I, I must trap for null values....

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
