How to create a macro to fill a specific field in a form

7 New Member
I am wanting to create a macro that will fill a specific field on a form and then go to the next record set. I have a blank field in the table that the form is pulling from. I want the user to be able to click a button I have inserted into the form which will go to the next record but I also want that button to fill in that blank field on the form with the users initials before moving to the next record. I do not want the user to type anything in here because I want the records to be consistent having the same information in that blank field everytime. If you can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

You can use the environ("userna me") to get the system username to fill you blank form.
If you use user and group permission features, then the method CurrentUser would do.

I guess you could call me a newb with access I know just enough to get me by. I am trying to create a ticketing system through forms but I am very new to using forms. I have the form pull data from the table and every field is populated except the user field which I purposly left blank so I could track when a record has been completed. I do not want the user to type information into this field I want it populated automatcially once the user goes on to the next record. Im am unsure how to use your environ function in this form and how to designate what field to fill.

You will likely have to dive into VBA to produce what you want. Then sky is the limit. You should start reading on the topic.
Basically, when "a record is completed" as you say, an event will trigger the filling of the blank field without the user having to type anything.

I'm having a very bizarre problem. I open up my table in datasheet view, and I click on edit, find. In the Find and Replace dialog box, I enter an address (123 main for example). If I set the Look In parameter to a specific field (Mailing Address), my record is found. If I go back up to the top of the table, and set the Look In parameter to my table name to search all of the fields in the table so that I can also search the Street...

Dear sir, I have page with an iframe in it. That iframe page contains a form from remote site to fill in. What I like to do is that when user clicks a button on my page, that form on the iframe page will be filled in with some data related to this user. I guess this has to be done by client side? Does any one knows how can I do this? use of active x might be acceptable in this situation.

Is there a way I can direct the cursor to a specific field (variable) in a form by typing the field name while in form view? I have a form with many fields, and it would be nice if there were some method, similar to FIND RECORD (e.g., CTL + F ), where a dialog box would pop up and let me enter the field name, and then jump the cursor to that location. I currently do my edits by locating a record to be changed by ID using CTL+F and...

Hi everyone, I am trying to create an access database for reporting in my division, and I need to be able to create new fields in a form as they get used. For example, if someone fills in a particular date field, I need to keep that date field, but add a new date field right below it in the form. This is because the commitment dates for certain projects can be changed, but the old dates need to be kept. I am pretty new to access and VB, but...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
