Me.Filter fails Access 2007

5 New Member
In Access 2007 I have encountered instances where Me.Filter = "... " fails to operate for a split form. Using a reference set to the form object e.g. frmObj.Filter = "...." also fails to operate.
(In both these cases .Filter = " ... " is followed by .FilterOn = True. and in both cases a debug statement shows that the Filter and FilterOn have been updated as entered. However, using Forms![formname]![subformname].form.Filter = ".." works. I am already using frmobj.RecordSo urce as a primary filter so switching to using the RecordSource is not a viable alternative. (Me.recordSourc e = "..." and frmObj.RecordSo urce = " ... " both work for the problem form. I have tried creating a new form without success.
The facility using frmObj.Filter is generic and hence I cannot use the Forms! address.

Has anyone come across Me.Filter failing and resolving why , especially as other forms/subforms in the same application work using the Me/frmObj.Filter syntax.

I'm working on testing a large application with Access 2007. It has been running under 2003 and XP with no obvious errors. However with 2007 many forms seem to have lost the ability to filter. When the form is loaded, the record source specifed, a filter applied, and filtering set to on, either no records are displayed, or ALL of the records displayed. Click on the "Toggle Filter" on the ribbon and voila, the resordset is displayed. ...

If you are looking for opinon on what's useful in Access 2007, there's a new article at: http://allenbrowne.com/Access2007.html Covers what's good (useful features), what's mixed (good and bad), what's gone (features removed), what's fixed (old issues solved), what's broken (new bugs), configuration, compatibility, should you buy, and links. It is opinion, so you may disagree, but hopefully it's an informative summary.

A client of mine likes some of the new bells and whistles in Access 2007, and is thinking about converting our A03 format MDB to an A07 format file. However, while some of the users have A07, many do not, and it's not clear when they would get it. His thought was to use the upcoming Access 2007 runtime to allow the users who are still running Office 2003 to be able to run the database. While I use multiple versions of Access on my...

I am in the process of upgrading an old Access ADP/SQL 2000 App to Access 2007 ADP/SQL 2005. There are a lot of buttons in the Access form which are calling Access Macros, the Macros call Stored Procedures in the SQL database. This is resulting in '2950 Error' for all the macros. Here is Microsoft' answer for that error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931407 *edit*

I am running MS Access 2007 and I want to update an Outlook Address book from my Access Database. I started out by importing the Outlook Address Book as a linked table and it linked fine. I then built a query to filter a master contact list of contacts and I made it an append query to added to the linked Outlook address book table. However, I am getting an error message that says I do not have the necessary permissions to use this object. At...

Hi all, I use Access 2007 and have the following problems: when exporting banal select queries (either to Excel or to a csv file) I find that exporting often doesn't work and creates a file with the WHOLE dataset, i.e. including those rows which the criteria of the query excluded. For example: let's say I have a database with sales by region. I create a select query to only show sales from Europe. The query runs

I have recently installed Office 2007 (SP1) retaining the previous installation of Office 2003. I have converted an Access 2003 database to Access 2007. The database contains the VBA code 'DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdLinkTables' to initiate the dialog box to rebuild links to tables held in a back-end Access database (which has also been converted from Access 2003 to Access 2007). The code runs without problem in the original Access 2003...

Hi all, So I bought a new laptop 10 days ago to test my apps with Vista. (home premium) Apparently Office 2007 is pre-installed. (a time limited but complete test version, no SP1) So I take the opportunity to test some new features of Access2007 before actually 'stepping over'. First thing that troubles me of course is 'the ribbon', but my question now is about speed. I opened one of my Access 2000-apps in Access 2007. Speed and...

I am changing the FILTER, ORDERBY, and ORDERBYON attributes of an Access 2007 form. I have code tied to buttons on the form that resort and/or refilter the records of a datasource based on user selections. When the form is closed, I am trying to wipe out any parameters that have been set in these attributes in order to try and put the form back in its original state, when these attributes were empty. See code I'm using below: ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
