We've had a very large A97 app running fine for the last seven years.
I've just converted to SQL Server backend, which is being tested, but
meanwhile the JET based version, running under terminal server, has
suddenly started running very slowly. The network engineer has thrown
up his hands and said "It's Access 97". I've checked out lots of
things including the Oplocks setting and other stuff from this NG, and

Most of my projects are developed in Access 2003. I have not even installed
Office 2007 yet!
I need to buy VSTO to get the run-time licence for Access 2003. No doubt I
will soon need a run-time licence for Access 2007. Is there a version of
VSTO that has the Access run-time licence for both version of Access? Or
will I need to buy VSTO 2003 now and then VSTO 2007 at a later date?

I understand that the runtime will be free with access 2007.
I wonder about the following scenario:
A user will have the full version of access 2003 installed (or an
earlier version). A developer will offer an acess 2007 application,
and suggest to the user to download and install the runtime for access
2007.
If the user were to do so, will that interfere with her access 2003

I have a major application for quoting and invoicing that is written in
Access 97 (both front and back ends). I have a user base of over 300
customers, and currently I don't require that they have Access 97, as I use
the access 97 runtime scripts from Sagekey software. The main problems I've
seen with Access 97 are the built in e-mail support for sending reports.

and is thinking about converting our A03 format MDB to an A07 format file.
However, while some of the users have A07, many do not, and it's not clear

I develop my applications in Access 2002. My development system is
running Windows XP SP2 and I have Microsoft Office XP Developer.
Microsoft Office XP is at SP3.
I used Inno Setup (great product) to install my applications.
When the Access Runtime was needed on the system I simply ran

Been using Access 97 for years. I use a statistics add-on (Total
Access Statistics) which is kind of expensive and I haven't found
anything to be gained by upgrading. But I'm now told I probably should
because of memory issues with Access 97 which are getting increasingly
fussy.
I'm told that, at best, Access 2007 isn't really very good, that the
better memory management came with 2003.
Any thots? Also, is Vista really that bad?

I'd created a MDE under Access 2003. It is now under testing stage. Some of the users will use Access 2003 runtime and some will use Access 2007 runtime to run this MDE. I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
