Select multiple items from a drop-down list

3 New Member
Hi everyone,

I want to be able to select multiple items from a drop down list. I have set up a second table with a list of records under one field called "Courses". On my main database table I have a field called "Pending Courses". I have used the Lookup wizard for this field so that a drop down list appears that's linked to the second table and so has a list of courses as the available options. Currently, however, only one course can be selected. For any given record I need to able to select multiple "courses" to be listed as data under this one field.

I'm very new to Access and so would appreciate your help!

Thanks

The functionality you require is not available in a ComboBox (drop-down).

You need to look at using a ListBox control instead.

Thank you NeoPa - I've now selected ListBox on the display control for the look up tab for this field. However I still don't get multiple selections. I've tried looking at the help pages but I can't seem to get to the properties for the list box (only general properties for the table...)

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help on this

Still can't get the properties for the ListBox unfortunately. The help guidelines say this;

Customize a list box, combo box, or drop-down list box
In Design view of the form or data access page, make sure that the list box, combo box, or drop-down list box is selected, and then click Properties on the toolbar to open the property sheet for the control.

I've tried selecting the ListBox on the Lookup tag for the field but when I select properties it only gives the table properties.

How can I get the properties of the control? What am I doing wrong?

The ListBox item I'm talking about is a control on a form. Not a way of setting up a field to display.

You are looking at the latter from what I can determine.

I'm fairly new to creating complex sql statements and need a little help. In plain english I want to do this: Select menu rows where the row's userGroupIDs equal the user's userGroupIDs. I realize some may want me to create seperate tables for these multiple values. The reason I'm using comma seperation at the moment...

Hi I have an HTML select element in my page and it's multiple property is disabled (one item at a time mode) but I still want to transfer all the items in the select to the server when the form is submitted. I'm using javascript to change the multiple property of the select element to true and then I'm looping through each option to change its selected property to true.

Hi - Has anyone ever used toggle buttons to select items in a listbox? I'd like to put about 24 toggle buttons on an unbound form that select or deselect items in a multiple select listbox. I've come across a way to set the listbox value to only 1 at a time, but need multiple toggle buttons to be on their corresponding listbox item values to be selected. Thanks!

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
