Hi, and Welcome to Bytes

You don't give us enough detail of what you store in your two Excel sheets to allow us to form an answer for you. Without any idea of what the columns in your two tables are we just can't help you here.

If I was in your position I would link the two Excel tables to Access (use Get External Data, Link Tables to do so), then devise suitable Access queries to join the two tables and compare fields where the rows match.

If you could please provide some more details on what it really is you need I am sure we would be able to help you, but as it stands there is nothing more we can do until we hear from you.

Hi all I need to add data from two Excel sheets (both on the same workbook) to an existing table in my SQL DB. The problem is that each sheet holds different fields for the same record, though the records are sorted by row numbers. (I had to split the fields to different sheets because Excel has a limit of 256 fields in each sheet) My sheets are quite large (~55,000 rows and 200 columns each) and I'll have to repeat this action many...

Background: People want to be able to record large amounts of product data ("a few MB") on laptop or tablet PCs without _any_ kind of network connection, and then to submit the data to a database in the office come the end of the day. The installed base of the machines is controllable, but should include familiar concepts and structures, and it should be easy to deploy on many computers. The solution will be used for approximately two...

All, I'm hoping one of you Xml or Data gurus can offer an opinion. I'm working on an app to basically compare two semi-structured data files (e.g. Excel / CSV) to one another. But I need to compare them as if they were datatables... (ie a simple diff type tool won't work)... More specifically, the process I envision so far is: 1) Read in two files -- if Excel select appropriate sheet (would also require users to structure their...

I have been working on an Access app that takes info from a file and writes it to a spreadsheet on a form, simultaneously saving the spreadsheet to Excel. I got the idea that the same concept could work in reverse, i.e. we have a cost model written in Excel that calculates the profitability of customer accounts based on several inputs and they need to be updated at least once per year. These cost models sit on lots of people's hard...

Windows 2K Pro Access/Excel 2003 Hi there, I have a large number of password protected Excel Workbooks. The files are protected by code that runs when the workbook opens. The code asks the user to key in a password into an input box, the password is compared to a a partciular cell on a hidden (xlVeryHidden) sheet and if it matches the Workbooks opens. I have not used the usual Excel password protection as I need to provide for several...

Import text wizard says: I'm banging my head on this one, here's why: I've been importing files using this process and data format, with success! I created a temporary table in Access to facilitate my import process (It's all text columns, I perform transformations later). And I created a template in Excel to correspond to the table - essentially it's just column headers: In Excel, I've been opening files of work that we've done...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
