End of file marker changes

Hello All,
Hopefully this is the correct forum...
I have some code that creates a text (dat) for a billing process
created in Access2000, I add an Eof of Line marker to each line item
and then add an End of File marker "" (the requirement is a
Hexidecimal EOF marker) - that tells the reader program that it's
done. The markers are a requirement for the file.

Just in the past two weeks the end of file marker is no longer reads
and comes back with an error and shows that the "" is now a right
facing arrow . Here is the code that creates the marker, I have had no
probelms with any windows OS so far and I can't reproduce the clients
error unless the reader is on a unix machine or the end user has
changed to Access 2007
Is there a better, more universal way to create this? Any help would
be appreciated.
Many thanks
John

When I used to write files like this I used the ascii value or the chr()
of the ascii value. Look at ASC() and CHR() in help.

BTW...I think that something like a --is what the EOF file marker
looks like in Windows.

Hello,
I tried using Chr$(26) as the end of file marker and I'm still getting
inconsistant readinfs from different machines. Some show a square
'' and others show '-->'. Any Windows 2000 machine is fine,
however XP machines have been inconsistant. This has to be a system
setting?

Any help would be appreciated.

John

Im trying to write a program that should read through a binary file searching for the character sequence "\name\" Then it should read the characters following the "\name\" sequence until a NULL character is encountered. But when my program runs it gets a SIGSEGV (Segmentation vioalation) signal. Whats wrong? And is there a better way than mine to solve this task (most likely)

Im writing a program to search for a string in a binary file. And it works. The problem is: It is sooo slow! how can i make it faster? It takes 27 seconds just to search a 5 meg file. I guess it has something to do with the strequal() function... Btw, thanks to all of you who answered last time! code: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- #include <stdio.h>

Hello, I work for a non-profit in San Diego as a GIS Specialist. I have had to teach myself about some scripting to create some dynamic maps, but I am still very limited in my skills, so I have had to explore the internet in order to discover various tutorials and examples that have led me on a positive path. Right now I am working on a Google Mash-Up that will incorporate over 14,000 records, which will appear as separate markers that...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
