Expend by typing in a combobox

Dear reader,

One of the properties of a field is "Auto expand".

Is this the property to able and unable the expend by typing.

My experience with "Expend by typing" in a combobox is not so good.

Sometimes it works and sometimes not and I can't find way.

Is there some setting what I overlooked?

Tanks for any help.

Kind regards,

Simon

What version of Access do you use? What type of field in a table has an "Auto
expand" property?

Here's the situation... You've a combobox with Items already added. Say they look like this (or even lines of text): 10-00-232 10-00-256 10-01-006 10-01-213 10-02-200

Hi there, is it possible to avoid that a user could enter a text directly in a combobox? The user should only select a text from the list of the combobox without typing anything. Thanks

A2K I have a combo box that shows the content of a last name field from a table. I use it to locate records in the table form. I can open the form and locate several names quickly by placing the cursor inside the drop-down list and typing the first few letters of the name I want to find. Then, for no apparent reason, the list just stops responding to subsequent searches for names that I KNOW are in the list. The list contains no...

Hay there, I'm writing my own DataGridComboBoxColumn because .NET 1.1 does not have one (I hope .NET 2.0 supplies one). I based it on this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/03/08/DataGrids/default.aspx I have a problem when there are two DataGrid's on one form, and when I switch focus from one grid to the other. To be more precise, when I'm editing a combo box column in one grid, and then click in the combo column of...

Is there any way of getting a combo box to move to an item as the user types? For example, if they type FR in a country list, it scrolls down to France. This is the usual way that a combo box works, but it doesn't seem to happen in VB .NET. Do I have to add code to get it to do this or is there a property setting that allows this? TIA -- Helen

Dear reader, What can be wrong in my ComboBox, the property "Auto Expand" is set to Yes, but by typing in the ComboBox it doesn't expand. Is this because the source of the ComboBox is a query.

Hi, I have a ComboBox in a Windows app (.net2.0). And when users start typing into it, the dropdown populates itself from a webservice and gives relevant options under it... But the mouse hides itself, os its very hard to know what you are selecting. The reason for mouse hiding itself is because in Control Panel >Mouse >> Pointer Options >Hide pointer while typing is checked.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
