These are very different. The first is quite challenging; the second is
not so challenging. I think it would be helpful if you thought about and
answered these questions before you commit yourself to SQL-Server, or any
technology at all.
I too am very concerned with the spam and am becoming disappointed with
Google; I've referred on a bunch of spam to them with no results whatever.

Ok, these may be newbie questions. Can the spam messages be deleted on the
server, or are they stuck here forever, once posted? It would be nice if
there was a moderator that could go through and clean up the messages. It is
difficult sometimes to pick out the good messages (especially here lately).
And I really don't know what the "cmsg cancel" ones are about, but they are
particularly annoying, as they just add to the clutter.

No. I described how to turn off Google Spam email before it hits your Spam folder. The
technique I described (which works well) sends Spam directly to your Trash folder where it
is automatically dumped in 30 days. The end result is, there is no Spam to be bothered
with as it all goes to the trash, where it belongs. Google denies this works, but trust

I just discovered that Google groups is requiring the user to enter
the contents of a picture into a textbox. At least for my first post
